I was initially thinking of a silver/platinum color for the brides maids
I think having the maids in silver with dark flowers would be stunning!
I was thinking grey/silver as well, especially since the embroidery on your gown is silver.
I vote silver; definitely not light blue-it isn't the most flattering hue on all body types. :)
I agree with the ladies above. Silver or plantinum would look great and compliment the details on your dress so well.
I agree with silver or grey. But, you could definitely do white!
I've seen this done before. A bride I know wore a pink dress and had all her bridesmaids in white. It was a beautiful wedding, so I'm sure no matter what you decide it will look great!
Keep in mind that many people cannot wear silver or platinum without looking washed out. The same goes for gold. Anyone can wear black although that may be too dark for what you are looking for. Dark purple would be fine.
I think whatever color you decide to do, whether silver or blue or what-not, it should be a lighter color. That will create more of a contrast against your dress, kind of like the reverse contrast to a white wedding dress against darker colors.
I vote silver or lighter blue.
I agree with LadyGoodman. You should definitely go with a color which shows contrast (just as colors against the white of a typical wedding dress shows the same kind of contrast). You want to stand out on your wedding day. As far as colors go, silver would be beautiful, also the light blue would look very nice. Props for taking a risk and going against the grain with a colored wedding dress!
I love navy and yellow together for a summer wedding but platinum would look great against your dress.
Gorgeous dress! I agree with the previous posters--I think silver, gray, white or light blue dresses would be great. The contrast would go well with your dress.
I think the tone of your wedding and style of bm dress you prefer may be most important for what color you choose (i.e. silver may seem more formal, or you may not want to do full-length white gowns).
I saw a pic of a wedding where the bride was wearing red and her BMs wore white. It looked great! I actually thought of doing it myself! If I wore a colored dress, then I would have them wear white!

Maybe use colored sashes like they did in this pic? Just a thought.
Another vote for silver or white!
I also vote silver or platinum...beautiful dress by the was...I was originally gonna go with this dress in apple red.
when i started reading, i immediately thought white! but I also think silver would be gorg
@ashroehrs- What a wonderful idea!
So, I'm loving the idea of putting the bridesmaids in white with navy sashes or accents and acessories (shoes, hair clips, etc). It will be a nice contrast for the groomsmen who will most likely be in black tuxes with dark purple ties and clothe squares. So, I think that is what I'm going to go with. Thanks for your help, ladies!
I am agreeing with everyone that said silver/ platinum. It will really make the detail on your dress stand out well too.
Your dress is beautiful by the way. I envy your courage to step outside the box!
Where is that pic from? Those dresses are EXACTLY what I am looking for for my dress. I got a maor tingle of excitement when I saw them. I wanna try track down where the dresses are from!
I love the idea of a silver dress!! :)

i think white or ivory will look so pretty against that blue... love the dress
I think silver or white would be the easiest if you are going to let your girls pick thier own dresses. Otherwise you'll have several different (yet similar) shades of the color you go with. Every purple is different even dye lots make a huge color difference in fabrics. So going with white or silver will be so so so much less stress.
I do love the idea of punching it with colored accesories like shoes, sashes, clutches, hair pins.. etc etc etc. Too cute!!
Hi my dress is the same colour as yours and I've got my MOH in ice blue with dark blue jewellery, and the flower girl is in a navy velvet party dress with an ice blue sash
If i hadn't have got such a good deal on the ice blue dress I probably would have gone for silver too!
I've seen dresses in magazines that are white but look silvery not sure what they call that color but that's would be my suggestions. btw i love your dress.

So I finally ordered my dress (see below) and decided to be brave and go with the non-white dress. However, now I have a bit of a dilemma. What should my bridesmaids wear? Originally I was going to have them in either dark purple or light blue since those were our wedding colors. Now, we may expand our palette with navy, gold, and tourquoise since we're basically just going for colors that match the beautiful stain glass windows of the church.
So should I keep the original idea for bridemaids colors? Should they were dark purple? Light blue? Or maybe we should all match and put them in navy? Gold? Silver (my dress has silver accents)?
My FI also came up with the funny idea of having them wear white or ivory instead. It's almost amusing enough to be tempting. Can you imagine? Someone would ask "Well, which one is the bride" and we'd answer "The one in blue!".
Also we are doing much decoration to the church itself. It doesn't need it. I think the only flowers are going to mine and bm bouqets. I was thinking of carring white irises and then having the girls carry dark purple or blue irises. So what do you think?
Also, I made the decision very early on that I wanted my bms to pick their own dresses. There isn't going to be a limitation on length, style, or material; just color. But I want the color paletee to be complimentary. I love the way mix-matched dresses in the same color scheme work. They may not even pick traditional bm dresses. They may be prom style or cocktail type dresses. I don't like traditional bm dresses from bridal lines too much.
