I wouldn’t leave any hints lying around the house or anything. If he gets you the wrong size, you’ll just need to take it to the jeweler to be re-sized. No biggie.

Its not a big deal. You liking the ring he is designing is WAY more important than him getting your ring size wrong.

This should not be too much of a big deal.  The ring can either be resized (this does generally cost some money but your soon to be FI should have listened to his sister and now will have to pay up) or if it is unsizable, the ring could be traded in for one of the right size.  My promise ring and engagement ring both had to be resized.  It wasn’t a big deal.  Chances are good your fingers will get bigger as you age and they will get resized yet again.

Are decorative rings sized differently than real rings? Maybe he relayed the size 5 in fashion jewelry and the jeweler sized down to accomodate for the difference?

No biggie. Mine was a 7 and waaaay to big. Resized to a 4.5

Just leave it be. Put it on your pinky the day of and get it sized.
