I was thinking about this the other day, watching Up with my nephew. I would love to have the sort of long, enduring marriage of the couple in Up, but it would be so sad if one of us was left alone!
If I had to pick another movie couple to be, it would have to be Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy. Trite, I know, but just the thought of a love that makes no sense but works perfectly in the end.... *sigh*
@Miss Longcoat: The only way I will co-sign on this is if you were Jennifer Ehrle and Colin Firth... ETA 'The BBC production' Any other version is VERBOTEN
I would have loved to say Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester but even though it's one of my favorite books, I've never liked poor Eddie :(
And yeah, even though I still have lingering feelings of 'husband stealer' and I've only watched the movie once, I loved the sexual tension in Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Edward Scissorhands & Kim. They weren't a "couple" per say, but I love them together. </3
I love the Allie and Noah from the Notebook... and I love this quote:
"So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day. Will you do something for me, please? Just picture your life for me? 30 years from now, 40 years from now? What's it look like?"
I love how their love isn't easy, but how they still have a remarkable love story.
Westley and Buttercup from the Princess Bride, no question. Great story and beautiful love :)
@bRooklynRocks: Bahahaha... but of course! (complete with clingy shirt)
@Mrs.H2B: Ahhhhh.... now I have to watch The Notebook again!
@mrscheetos: I know exactly what you mean!
@bRooklynRocks: EXCUSE ME! That was NOT a PBS production, it was a BBC production. Mind your language missy! :-p
I did love The Notebook, but I don't think we're quite starcrossed enough.
I'm trying to think of a movie couple who were sort of friends who turned out to be perfect for each other. Any suggestions?
@Miss Longcoat: Good suggestion... Although the occasion where I reenacted the sandwich scene was with another man (then boy) in the countryside (I hadn't seen When Harry Met Sally but was trying to prove a point, I proceeded to date him and repeat the act many times... unfortunately.)
DH and I are more of a Harry and Sally couple. We have been friends since high school and def have been there for each other throughout many a relationship.
Ron and Sam from Jersey shore.. JK!! Ummm i love Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo in 13 going on 30, they are so cute!!
I would pick Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey from "Enchanted." 'm sure there's another couple that I like better, but I like how innocent they were AND Patrick is smokin'!
Can we be Marshall and Lilly from HIMYM? (I know it's not a movie)
If I HAVE to choose a movie...I choose Robin Hood and Maid Marium (sp). Yes the cartoon version. Thank you! ;)
definitely Harry and Sally for us! we met 10 years ago and have been across the country from one another and dated other people and whatnot but now we're together and it's amazing!
Sam (the little kid) and Joanna (the girl who sings "All I Want for Christmas") from "Love Actually"
I think DH and I fit alot like Owen Wilson & Jennifer Anniston in Marley and Me... aside from not being dog people. lol We compliment each other really well and even though we aren't always totally peachy keen we're still a good team and always strive to be united. =)
Unfortunetely the couple that best describes us is rodger rabbit and Jessica Rabbit. yes. sad but true. But they really love
I prefer my relationship with my FI to any movie couple but I feel I can identify most with Edward and Bella. LOl sounds lame i know but i have reasons. We are LDR and biratical couple so I understand their longing and attempts to understand eachothers differences and we have a bit of an obsession with eachother that other people do not understand or support but that works fine for us. I would love if like Edward and Bella we could have forever together instead of just a lifetime though.
@JewishBride: Love!!!! DH totally doesn't get it at all but I adore that movie, haha!
I love Landon and Jamie from a Walk to Remember...but Jamie dies and neither character is really at all like us. Also adore Will and Elizabeth from POTC. And even though they hate eachother for a good chunk of the movie, I'm also a big fan of Jane and Kevin in 27 Dresses.
Burt and Verona from Away We Go
...cept they never get married. Eh.
haha, I love that movie--second time I posted about it!
Can I pick a non-movie couple, but a television couple? hahah I do love Jake and Rose from the titanic, but I love Lucy and Ricky from I Love Lucy
The couple from UP! They were so cute and you could tell they went through a lot and really loved each other! I would hate to be alone, though.
Rapunzel and Flynn/Eugene from Tangled. :) We're so like them it's a little scary.
@Misfit: Oh I LOVE that movie! I really want to watch it now. FI and I will be incorporating I See the Light into the wedding somehow. He doesn't know that yet though ;)
@lauren keating: good one about wanting to be ron and sam from jersey shore hahaha made me laugh :D
I know it's been said...but Noah and Allie!! So us... :)
Sid & Nancy, lol...j/k Although, the first few months were close, minus the drugs.
I'd like to say Danielle and Henry from Ever After, but probably only because that is my all time favorite movie. But he was a colossal idiot for a while, and I have always seen myself in Danielle.
Noah and Allie, and also Tristan with Isobel 2 in Legends of the Fall- there was something so earnest and true about their love with one another.
"I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you’re always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you’re not around, and the fact that you didn’t call. But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all."
Kat and Patrick from 10 things I hate about you. Me and Fi were not "outsiders" But I love it!
@galloway111: Best movie ever! I love how completely perfect they are together. If I could get away with it, I'd do a Tangled themed wedding. :D
@BrideChristina:I'd pick them too... I love how they had a lifetime of happiness together.
Oh if it's a tv show since I said my movie it would be Claire and Phil from Modern Family... my FI said his movie couple for us would be Nick and Norah from Nick and Norahs Infinite Playlist.
