Tough Questions! I wanted lots and lots of plants, natural light, and an indoor/outdoor feel. I also did not want to look at anything that was too formal (ballroom like) or anything that had bad chairs, carpet, etc that wouldn't go with what I wanted to do with the space.
Here is my venue, I LOVE IT!

Gosh...honestly? If I just had the money to completely renovate my parent's house (an over 100 year old Victorian), I would be happy. I could have the meaningfulness of the location along with the historical, groomed beauty that's so hard to find in modern architecture.
All of those options sound awesome! :)
I love our venue, but if I had to pick something different, it would be a beautiful winery about 45 minutes south of us called Clos La Chance. It was way out of our price range, but I'd always dreamed about an outdoor winery wedding!
This is a good thread.
If I had an unlimited amount of money. My dream wedding would still be in my home town. I like the idea that all my friends and family don't have to travel far. I would still have chosen the same small little country church. I would still want in doors in God's eyes. I would probably want the same church but full of real flowers and candles. I would want the pews decorated with tulle and lot's of beautiful white roses.
The reception venue is the only thing I would really change. If I had the money it would be in the ball room of a hotel in the downtown area of my home town. It is big and fancy and beautiful. It's an old fashioned one hundred year old building with a big fireplace and chandeliers. It's just beautiful. I would want big huge centerpieces full of real flowers. It would be a sit down meal with 3 options to eat. Fish, beef, chicken. It would be amazing. My dream come true.
Oh, yea and a patio since its a June wedding, so everyone can hang out inside or outside..
Basically I would want a lot of real flowers every where I see.
I would want an old rustic barn for the reception. Have the cermony outside in front of some water falls (there is a place here that has really pretty ones!) or just with a view of the mountains (which our place does have!).
Here's the picture of my dream reception venue....
So many great pictures! And so many different idea of what makes the Perfect reception hall! I myself wanted lots and lots of light with a view of the lake (although, if we lived near the ocean, I'd prefer that to the lake). I wish the grounds around our hall were more garden and less grass and playground. I also wish there were an outdoor patio for people to step out onto.
i think i would love a museum with a beautiful outdoor space. and a guarantee that the day-off would have perfect weather of course :) so that we can actually utilize that outdoor space.
My venue actually is my dream venue. I saw it a few years back and told my fiance that we were getting married there. 3 days after getting engaged, we signed the contract for it!
It's a nature conservancy . . . big windows, hardwood floors, gardens around it . . . It's everything I wanted and the price is right :)

And a wedding set up in the venue.

If I could have my dream wedding, I would still have the ceremony where I'm having it (at the college I went to because the chapel is gorgeous with a beautiful pipe organ) but I would want the reception to be at a nearby zoo/conservatory. The reception site we currently have is pretty awesome (a nearby mansion with great hardwood floors, a fireplace, a lovely outdoor area with tables and seating and great bathrooms and we can bring in our own alcohol) but I really wanted the zoo/conservatory. The conservatory is gorgeous with huge windows and great flowers and a lovely little Japanese garden but was way out of our budget.
my favorite venue will be a copy of the Palace of Versailles gardens with a beautiful building with huge clear windows
I've got my dream venue (well for the country... city I guess, we're in)!!! Its at an ultra exclusive golf club- FI's uncle is the manager. With views of the ocean and mountains, it's perfect. Then again, I wouldn't mind getting married on a beach........ hehe maybe my next life. =)

What would that venue look like? What would it feel like? The color/material of the walls? Where would it be located (downtown, mountains, ocean view, lake, river, etc.) What kind of details would it have (fireplace, leather furniture, fancy bar, lots of windows, etc.)Would you want to rent it by the day or by the hour (or either option?) Would you prefer an inhouse caterer and bartender or the option to bring someone in from the outside?
I am just curious as to everyone's idea of the ultimate "Dream Venue."
