I'm interested in seeing what everyone's go to workout song is (like the one that they start the workout too or get the most motivated when it comes on your iPod). I think this will help build all of our playlists and will be especially interesting if we get a range of tempos too... So if you could choose just ONE song, what would it be?
Mine: "Here I Come" by Fergie (It's sampled from the oldie but goodie "Get Ready")
Listen to a snippet here: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_dmusic?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-music&field-keywords=here+i+come+fergie&x=0&y=0
also when i'm biking home and my last little bit is uphill i always think "just keep swimming...just keep swimming" from nemo. It helps. :)
I'm embarrassed to admit - Stronger by Britney Spears - keeps me running! Whatever works, I guess!
vistagirl -- I find myself saying "just keep swimming" ALL the time.. especially when I get frustrated. Too funny :)
One song? Alas, I cannot. Instead, here is my new workout playlist that I put together last night.
don't stop believing, journey
love sex magic ciara
gonna make you sweat C&C Music factory
boom boom pow black eyed peas
senorita justin timberlake
let it rock kevin rudolf
beat it and billie jean michael jackson
i know you want me (calle ocho) pitbull
when i grow up Pussycat dolls
don't stop the music and disturbia rihanna
maggie may (rod stewart)
I scoured self and runner's magazines for their top pics. anything slow makes me snooze on the machines
@ejs4y8: I love when JT sings "I don't know what I'm thinkin' 'bout" in a high voice! It makes me giggle hysterically...
It's hard to pick just one, so I'll pick one favorite for each workout that requires music:
Warm-up: Bebot- Black Eyed Peas
Running: Striptease- Hawksley Workman
Groovin' around the house: Signed, Sealed, Delivered- Stevie Wonder
Spinning: Thunderstruck- ACDC
Cool-down: Somewhere over the rainbow- Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
RecessionistaBride -- I love to jam around the house to Signed, Sealed, Deliver!
My cool down song is "sitting on the dock of the bay" the live Pearl Jam version!
Gonna Make You Sweat by C + C Music Factory. Kind of give away my age though just from that alone..haha.
It's hard to think of one particular song...but if I HAD to pick one, I'd go with 'When Your Heart Stops Beating' by +44. =D
I put on the 90's channel and just about any of the 90s stuff makes me laugh and move! Old school Will Smith anyone? :)
@mdarrah....Getting jiggy with it...na na na na na-na-na....and love Summertime!
A few of my "5 more minutes on the treadmill" songs:
Chris Cox Megamix - Britney Spears (all my faves rolled up in one)
LoveStoned - JT
Gotta Get Thru This - Daniel Bedingfield
Since high school it's been Eminem's 8 Mile. Gets me focused and pushing it fast.
i like the new Kristiana Debarge Song - GOODBYE
Miranda Lamberts - GUN POWDER AND LEAD
KELLY CLARKSON- I DO NOT HOOK UP
BLACK EYED PEAS - I GOTTA FEELING
KAT DELUNA AND OMARION- CUT OFF TIME
AND Then i do a little Old School and throw in some Bon Jovi ..( omg hes soo cute..lol)
and Van Halen...
As you can see my taste in music are very essentric( sp?) ..lol
This is awesome! i cannot wait to DL more music.
Yes JT has a high girly voice sometimes and it makes me laugh, too! So do his michael jackson-esque booty shaking moves. I wonder if they work on jessica biel.....=P
@wheresmydessert: Don't be too embarassed...I think I've got you beat! I can't pick just one Britney song that gets me motivated. Her entire Circus album (except for the few slow ones) gets me in the mood to move. I haven't gone old school Brit yet on my ipod though. Maybe I'll have to try it on my next run.
Knights of Cydonia by Muse. It totally keeps me going and on the move!
Play Your Part, Girl Talk definitely gets me pumped for a workout.
I work out by dancing and I can totally dance to "Shake It" by Metro Station.
I have to say that this week it's becoming "Great DJ" by Ting Tings (the song in the Year One commercial and the choreography round sond on SYTYCD... it gets stuck in your head but its so much fun!
Since my routine is 30 mins long, I listen to the entire Skillet: Comatose CD
Gotta love some Christian Roack n Roll!
This song doesn't really say anything about my age, but when I'm running and having a hard time convincing myself to finish, I jump to this one:
Elvis - A Little Less Conversation (remix version)
It just makes me forget about my burning legs...and puffing breath...and it's a longer song, so I know that making it to the end of the song will make me meet my goal!
@abrideagain -- that's a good idea to have a "skip to" song to get momentum up!
HumarockBride-I forgot how much I love "Are You Gonna Be My Girl'. I'm adding it to my must-download list. Thanks!
I LOVE listening to the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack when I work out - Jai Ho is my favorite.
Also - I always listen to Take Me On the Floor by the Veronicas when I need another upbeat song while I'm doing cardio!
I was just about to say I can't belive no one's said 'Take Me On the Floor'! I LOVE working out to that song!
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground
- from the Center Stage soundtrack. I picture them doing all of those crazy pirouettes in the non-ballet dance class & I'm instantly motivated!
"Pump It" By Black Eyed Peas...it's a great pace and heck, they are telling me to Pump It! :)
"Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey. Or by the cast of that new show "Glee". Either one works when you are just about ready to give up on whatever work out you are doing.
Some (kind of older) rock songs that get me running for that extra minute (or 15):
Jimmy Eat World- Sugar on the Asphalt
Sponge - Plowed
Foo Fighters - The Pretenders
AC/DC - Hells Bells
Taking Back Sunday - You Are So Last Summer
The Ataris - Boys of Summer (a little more upbeat music-wise than the original)
Blink 182 - Mutt
The Offspring - I Want You Bad
Finger Eleven - Paralyzer
Stabbing Westward - Save Yourself
Republica - I'm Ready to Go
Oh wow...my playlist is a little (ok or a lot) heavier than most of these. Mine consists of:
Drowning Pool - Bodies (thats always the skip to song if I am not feeling it)
Disturnbed - Down With the Sickness
Slipknot - Duality and Wait and Bleed
Metallica - Enter Sandman
Lacuna Coil - Our Truth
KoRn - ADIDAS & Blind
To name a few....:)
Love everyone's songs! For running, my fave is "Move Along" by All American Rejects. But I like variety - dance grooves, pop, alternative, hard rock, etc. etc.
I blogged about my workout playlist here:
I love me some country when I run, Tim McGraw's "I like it, I love it" and Kenny Chesney's "She thinks my tractor's sexy" are my top two to get my butt moving...Also, love "Let's Get Retarded" by Black Eyed Peas for running~
