Where do you live currently? Not where are you from, but where you physically live. If you were going to just move somewhere new, where would it be?
Does anyone know of any good online surveys like this?
I live in NE Florida.. places I'd consider moving include the rest of FL (excluding the middle and panhandle.. thinking the coasts from Jacksonville all the way down the peninsula to Miami to Tampa), Colorado, Philadelphia, Arizona, or a caribbean island with a reliable airport.
I live in upstate NY, for some reason I would love to move to Galveston, TX. I also would love Hawaii.
I live in New York City. If we ever left, we would move somewhere warmer and with a beach. Probably Miami/South Beach.
I would LOVE to move somewhere up in New England. I've always wanted to go to Maine or Connecticut!
@Soon2beeMrsM - so funny that you said Galveston. I grew up in Austin, and having been to Galveston many times before, I can assure you it's nothing special! The water is disgusting - I would never swim in it!
I live in San Diego ... about 15 minutes from the Tijuana, MX border.
Although Ive never been I really would like to try living in San Francisco, CA
or Los Angeles (which I have been 2 many times).
Yeah Galveston is nothing special, and humid as hell. The time I was there I just felt icky and gross.
@melissa- There was a survey once on msn.com. Whether it is still there- IDK?
If we could live anywhere, it would probably be NYC.
Hmmmm..... I live in Columbus, Ohio right now and I think if we were going to move to a city we'd fit in best in Chicago. If we decided to give up the snow (which would be hard for me!) maybe San Francisco or someone on middle of the Cali Coast. Then again there are days when I say f the cities lets move to Maine or Montana or Utah. :)
I live in Michigan and after almost moving to Hawaii twice, I can say that my heart is there. Then again, I am torn because i LOVE San Francisco so much.
@hotchild - I'll be in South Beach this weekend! and probably wearing my finest "miami" bathing suit, since it's bright white with gold hardware! I would move to the MIA area but I'm just not flashy enough for South Miami. Maybe the burbs ;) I can pretend this weekend, but I'd run out of clothes and effort by week 2.
We live in northern AL. I'm not sure where we are going to live next. We might move back to CO because it would be easiest since our house is there. Other than that, maybe FL.
@3m - if you moved to san fran, you'd be able to find reasonable flights to Hawaii more often!
@justlikeheaven - i loved san diego! I would be nervous to move there, as it's $$ and busy. Have you gone to Mexico?
@MelissaBegins: I visited with my sister a few years ago. I love it because it reminded me of kind of NYC on the beach. I loved the vibe and all the people-watching. I definitely want to go back...I would brush up on my Spanish though haha
I live in Minneapolis, and I don't really ever want to live anywhere else. But if I had to move:
-Albuquerque, NM
-Grand Junction, CO
-Portland, OR
Or somewhere on the North Shore of Minnesota.
@hotchild - yes it's definitely hot NYC. I think both cities are fun and fabulous, but just too much for me. I went to the Loews on S. Beach around this time last year and I swear, everybody was either a tan, tall model or straight out of new york, reading the NYTimes, drinking coffee at the pool.
I was born in Poland and live in Germany since was 2. I also lived in the US (Texas) for a short time. In the end I have to say I love living in Germany and going to the US on vacation :).
@hotchild - I have a NYC question! Will I survive a week there if I am terrified of pidgeons? Seriously! Someone told me once I would hate NYC because of that.
I currently live in Aliso Viejo, CA. It is in South Orange County. I really love where we are but I would eventually love to move one city over to Laguna Beach or somewhere far like St. Jean Cap Ferrat, France.
Melissa - I was born in San Diego but parents are from Mexico. I actually spent my fair share of years being bad and crossing the border on weekends to enjoy the 18 and up drinking law they have
. It is just dangerous now.. I havent been in years (all the drug related crimes going on down there). & yes SD = $$ =[ .. thats why I cant post lovely home pictures yet.. since were stuck in a small apartment till who knows when!
I live in Ottawa, Canada, and I love it! If I could move anywhere I think it would be somewhere warm, maybe Florida? :)
I live in St Louis but I'd LOVE to live in Texas or Virginia or a Miami....my aunt lived there for a bit and it was AWESOME. OF course, to "live it up" there (like I'd want to do obviously) i'd need lots of money. SO i could live in the hot spots, afford the good places, and generally be full of awesome, lol. The best part of the midwest is how affordable it is. But i'm a Southern California girl stuck in the midwest so I can't say i fit in all the way
I like living in Philly but I'd consider living in Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, or Portland. I'd also love to live in London or Amsterdam.
I'd love to live in Austin, but it's too damned hot.
Ooo! I think living in Boston would be awesome! Can I switch my answer? :P
Oh, and if I decided to give up city life, I'd love to live in Maine.
Currently live in NYC. If I could live anywhere else...maybe London? Or Boston...but honestly, I love living in New York and don't want to leave for a long long time, lol.
@OttawaBride: I hate pigeons as well (they're rats with wings!) but I manage okay :)
@hilsy - Ugh just thinking about them makes me feel icky!! I literally cross the street to avoid them and I am one of those crazy people that makes whoever I am with chase them away before I continue walking. It's very embarassing!! Lol. We're planning our honeymoon in NYC and I just need to figure out if we should reconsider! Glad to hear that you do ok!!
@hotchild - Oh great!! I wouldn't want my weird phobia to keep me away from NYC :)
I live in southern Vermont and I like it (we're here for good) but I would love to live in NYC, or Boston. I also love California!
@OttawaBride: haha, yeah I hear ya. They're really only bad in some parks with open plaza type areas, like Bryant Park, because people sit down and feed them (which grosses me out!). Definitely don't reconsider--don't let the pigeons keep you away!
Great question! I don't really have a good answer though because I'm pretty happy where we're at. Granted, I'd like it if Cheyenne had some better restaurants but we live within 100 miles of the majority of both our families and are a little outside of town. Although, I think I would love Sheridan, WY or a little town on the other side of the Bighorn Mountains if that didn't mean the closest family would be least 5 hours away.
Go figure then that J has an job application out that would move us to southeast Arkansas! If that happens I think I'll probably have worse culture shock there than every one of my international trips combined!
@ILikePink - Grand Junction?! Really? Why's that!? (I grew up in the Grand Valley if you can't tell. :-))
I think i could live in Amsterdam or somewhere in Europe also - but my MIL would have a fit if we did that. Hmmm..
I currently live in Somerville, MA. About a mile from downtown Boston. I would love to move back to Northampton, MA or up to Central VT (Montpelier area). City living has been good, but I am ready to move back to the country. Too bad Somerville doesnt have a deserted 5 acre farm up for grabs ;)
I'm in Texas, and I think I would like to move to Colorado or Hawaii.
I live in SF and I adore the city... but if I won the lottery or something, I'd probably move back to Tokyo.
St. Thomas, V.I. I've already told my husband we're moving here as soon as possible. He'll never leave Central Fl while he's working and we have young kids (future), but I keep telling him if life gets overwhelming here and he turns into the crazy workaholic his father is, we're outta here! We at least plan on retiring here.
@bree - do you have family in the VI or have you lived there for a while? my husband and i would seriously consider living on an island, but the practicality of it has us worried, since we like to have things planned out very well.
@Corgi,
I totally agree on Chicago!
On a realistic day to day still have to work and raise a kid level, I think FI and I would love Chicago.
We visited last year and I love that it's NYC but with a slight slower pace.
If it wasn't so far from family we would do it in a heartbeat!
@hilsy - UGGGH. I hate when people feed them! That's so disgusting. Especially when they're letting their children feed them!! Come ON people, they are disease infested disgusting flying rats!!!! //END VENT. Lol.
NYC! I lived there for two years when I was in grad school and I miss it terribly. My now-husband hates it though, so I don't think that will ever happen :(
