If you didn't get your BM dresses from a bridal store, where did you get them?

Not sure if this counts because they have a bridal department, but I got mine from J Crew.

My maids went mismatched, and ended up with dresses of the same color from J.Crew, Ann Taylor, ModCloth, Nordstrom’s, and a local boutique. If you go with Ann Taylor, they have 40% off sales all the time if you sign up for the emails.

MrsNarwhal: I got ours from Marks and Spencer. It’s a British department store, but they have a depot in the US so it didn’t cost any more to order a dress for my bridesmaid who lives in the US! They were gorgeous and so many people asked if we’d had them made specially. Sorry, don’t have a picture on my phone!

we got ours made by jasmine’s bridal shop! They turned out amazing! I am so happy with them. I liked the freedom to choose whatever style we wanted in whatever colour we wanted. It didn’t end up costing much less than the bridal shops, but they were higher quality than most bridesmaids dresses.

We went with a dress from Francesca.

Glad DHgate worked out for someone, but I’d advise extreme caution. We bought a dress off there that was supposed to be a replica of a dress sold in the UK (the store doesn’t ship to the US; hence DHgate). They even used the UK store’s photo. The dress we got was nothing like it. Pleats were sewn down, rather than allowed to drape naturally; it was chiffon instead of what looked like (based on the photo) a jersey material; and there was boning put into the bodice… The DHgate version’s torso actually looked like a suit of armor, as the dress shoulders didn’t even touch my sister’s shoulders. The dress floated above her body, because the entire bodice actually *sat straight up* from her hips. We have an excellent seamstress friend (she used to head up an entire factory or something), and she couldn’t do anything to fix it.

My bridesmaids are mismatched and high street, they all look fantastic and a fraction of the price of real BM dresses

MrsNarwhal: I got mine at Nordstroms! They have such a great return policy. One of my bridesmaids was cash strapped so after she wore the dress for the wedding, she returned it and got her money back–no questions asked!

Also, I got it when it was on sale for $118, so it was a great deal.
