My question is what did you do to make your wedding night special if you didn’t have a honeymoon?
My fi and I are eloping here in our town on Saturday and can’t afford to take a trip. I am not upset by this at all, I know at some point in the future when we can afford it we will take an amazing trip for our delayed honeymoon, but what could we do this weekend to make it feel a little extra special? We thought about getting a hotel room in a nearby city for the night but we have dogs and no one to stay with them and the cost of a hotel room and boarding is a bit too much for just one night.

DH and I also didn’t honeymoon…we’ll do it some day, but when we got married, we had an 8 month old…and there was no way I was ready to leave her with anyone while we went away.
Maybe you guys could spend a day doing something fun/special locally? Nothing makes me happier than eating somewhere nice… maybe dinner? theatre? a play? a local festivity?

MrandMrsN: We aren’t honeymooning right away – probably a year+ later! But we are just chilling at home, with our pets, and each day going to do fun things we haven’t done before or eat places we haven’t been… a mini-vacay in our own city!

My FI and I aren’t honeymooning either. But we will spend the night in a hotel. We didn’t choose a really fancy one b/c we will likely be at the wedding reception until nearly 2 a.m. and I hate spending money on something awesome that I can’t enjoy properly!
But as soon as the guests leave town and we have a little money, we will go spend a weekend somewhere fun.

MrandMrsN: Buy something extra special to wear that night. Ask a close friend to decorate your bedroom with rose petals and candles, music, favorite foods, etc. It will be super romantic!

I’ve been married a year and a half… no honeymoon yet.

We hung out with his parents in their beautiful back yard. We had his best man & his wife over, we hung out in the hot tub. It was amazing, relaxing, and a perfect way to end the day.

Do somethign that you two love to do. If its staying in and having a movie night or having a fire with friends. You could always look at getting a mobile spa come to your house, give you a couples message and relax!

Thank you for all the ideas.
Nikkimcq: I never thought about that, we did call a spa yesterday and tried to book a couples massage but they were all booked up for the whole weekend.

MrandMrsN: Of course eh! Def look into a home service then, even if its not a couples message but maybe reiki or something. Maybe collect some of your favorate movies, and snacks!

MrandMrsN: Pet friendly hotel?
We are taking our dog to vegas with us this weekend -____- hahah.
I definitely agree about the couples massage! Try looking on groupon or amazon local for your area – there are always TONS of massage deals, nice dinners too!
