We had a little ipod boombox set up, I had my list all ready to go and my brother was gracious enough to man the little remote and just turn the volume down a little when I got to the end of the altar…after that, we turned the volume back up and let it play…

I’m commenting to follow your reponses. We are having an intimate wedding with only 4 guests & I hadn’t even thought about music!

I wanted to walk down the aisle to Nickel Creek’s Pastures New, its a pretty instrumental, unobtrusive and sweet, our ceremony was MAYBE 7 minutes long, so after that was just a lot of Sinatra, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald and Glen Miller, we didn’t have dancing, so it was all background music.

@shesho:  We had no music actually!  We had a destination elopement with two witnesses.  We had some jaw dropping scenery for our ceremony location so I truly believe that music was not missed.  I didn’t notice as I was walking in!

If I COULD have gotten music, I really wanted Uilleann pipes (Irish bag pipes).  But since I could not locate anyone and if I did it’d probably be $200 at a minimum, we just went for no music.

We didn’t have any music! We did a first look on some stairs above the beach, and then walked down to the beach together. Super easy 🙂

If you want something SUPER pretty check out “A Thousand Years” by the Piano Guys. It’s a cover of the Christina Perry song and it’s incredible.

We had 14 people at the wedding and we had music for the ceremony.  We we going to set the speaker up for dinner but never did.  I wish we had.  DH, BM and M(an)OH walked down to the London Philharmonic’s Super Mario Brothers Suite and I walked to Straight No Chaser’s I’m Yours/Over the Rainbow.

We’re eloping in Kauai and not sure how they perform their ceremonies there. It might only just be FI and I. If not, a couple if our friends. But if they play no music down the isle, then I’ll problem just take my small jambox and have one of my guest press play, them pause. Lol

I’m having an intimate ceremony with 14 people total and we’re hiring a classical guitar student from the conservatory to play. He’ll play I Giorni by Ludovico Einaudi while I walk down the aisle and afterwards and other than that I’ve told him to just play whatever he likes. For an hour’s worth of music it’s just over $100.

My SIL played the piano when I walked down the very short aisle. She also played when we recessed. The music room was right next to the living room where we got married. All the doors were opened so she didn’t miss anything.

We had music on the officiant’s IPOD for our outdoor ceremony. It was lovely.

Music enhances any wedding ceremony. It is a moment too special to be silent.
