I’d buy a more expensive dress.  My absolute max dress budget is $500, and I’m worried I won’t get much for that.

Other than that, I really can’t think of anything.  I’m skimping on the dress in order to have an open bar.

I would have….

Done my BMs’ makeup ( i paid for their hair)

Bought the BMs their dresses

Had an open bar

Had some sort of party bus, even though the ceremony & reception were at the same place, LOL

Hired a wedding coordinator – that s**t was stressful!

Had a band instead of a DJ

Had a bigger tent

A nicer reception venue

real linen table cloths,

nice chairs instead of the ugly folding chairs that come with my hall,

I would have a sit down, instead of a buffet

I would get an upgraded version of the diamond wedding band I really want

And I would get the $500 veil I’ve been drooling over

Oh and I would pay someone to decorate instead of worrying about having enough time to do it early in the morning.

I would also get uplighting..

  • A midnight snack bar of some sort
  • A real photo booth instead of the DIY one we are going to do.
  • A fully stocked, open bar (our venue lets us bring our own alcohol in so we are having self-serve keg beer and wine.)

That’s about it…

@bebefly:  I’ve been looking at the preworn sites, but I’m still way too far off from my wedding to think about buying anything yet.  Fortunately, I have a long time to shop around to find something.  I haven’t been seeing much for under $500, though.

I would have:

Hired a wedding planner although I am not sure I saved money by not hiring one

Paid for all siblings travel and accommodations (we helped a little)

Paid for BM dresses and hair (I paid for nails) and groomsmen tuxes

Bought BMs nicer gifts and had a more elaborate BM luncheon

Had a longer reception and more food

Gone all out with linens, chairs, etc.

While all these things would have been nice, having a stricter budget forced me to focus on what was important and be creative.  I don’t know if a lot more money would have made my wedding any nicer.

A blonde Johnny Depp… teehee…

Just kidding. More time, super awesome photographer and completely open top shelf bar (and I guess taxi/ limo rides there and back). And maybe a videographer.
