    Hello Hive,

I am absolutely loving this dress and although I haven't planned to spend so much on a gown, there are always ways to cut corners and splurge elsewhere right? :)

My question to you is if money weren't an issue, and if it weren't a Monique Lhuillier, would you be attracted to this particular dress or if you saw a bride wearing it would you say "OMG what is she thinking?!? Please give me your honest opinions.

If you had the money, would you buy this dress? Honest opinions please :) : wedding sunday rose Sunday Rose"

If you have the money, then do what makes you happy! Because that dress is going to be in ALL your wedding photos. and you don't want to think back "I wish I bought that Monique Lhuillier instead"

Oh and if I saw the bride wearing that dress I would be envious haha honestly wishing I could afford such a beautiful work of art.

@MissJitterbug: I think it's a beautifully made dress, but it is definitely a "statement" dress which means not everyone will love it, which you should probably accept. There is no dress that EVERYONE will like.

But to answer your question more specifically, I think that if you feel you carry the dress well- if youve tried it on and you love yourself in it then YES get it!!

I would definitely be of the camp "OMG What was she thinking?!" To me it looks like an upside-down, bleached Bigbird :( But I tend to be a bit more traditional/classic.

It's beautiful, but there are lots of designers who make dresses similar to this for MUCH less money! Alfred Angelo makes one that looks very close that I know of for sure.

It's not at all my style, but neither are many dresses I see here or in real life!  It's all about what YOU want, not what others will think.  You'll never, ever be able to please everyone. :)  Also, I can't imagine spending tons of cash on my wedding dress.  Maybe if I won the lottery I'd go wild, but otherwise I personally think it's a poor 'investment'.  But that's just ME!!!

If you like this style, there's MANY other designers making gowns similar to this for much less.

Honestly?  I think it's awful.  I would never wear that and if I saw someone wearing it I would definitely say "what on earth??"  Think about how you (and your future children and grandchildren) will feel when you look back at your wedding album and see yourself in that.  In my opinion, you will have the same sorts of feelings that many brides from the 80s have when they look back at the huge, poofy sleeved atrocities that were fashionable back then.

    You wanted my honesty :)

I would not personally wear it, so i guess the answer would be "No" I wouldn't buy it. BUT, on someone else, I would love this dress. It is a work of art

I friggen LOVE this dress and find it stunning, but... there have been lots of variations done of it that are probably less expensive, so if you're not a stickler for the tag saying Monique Lhuillier, you could go that route maybe?

Eta: unless you don't care about the $ in which case I say go for it.  It's very "montreal" now that I see you're from there I am even more in the group of "buy it"

Depends on how it looks on ME. If it looks FAB on me and I had the money heck yeah I'll buy it.

If I didn't have the money I'll try to find it used cheaper or a similar design from another designer.

My concern with the dress is that the bottom looks so heavy and thick I imagine it wouldn't be very flattering to anyone who wasn't 6'1" and 103lbs.

    I love it!!!

I tried on a dress.. kind of similar, at DB, and it was definitely one of my favorites! Does the weight of it bother you? That was the only thing about the dress that I didn't like.

Honestly, I'm not a fan. It looks like a bunch of wadded up printer paper glued to a dress. I would probably say "OMG what was she thinking?"

It's not my style, so I wouldn't buy it no matter how much money I had or who designed it.  Even if it were my style, I would be concerned that it is too trendy, and I second CorgiTales's comment... I'm not sure that it would flatter most people.

But if you tried it on and loved it, try not to care so much about what others think.  No matter what dress you get, some people will love it and others will hate it.

YESYESYES a THOUSAND times yes!  If we weren't opting for an intimate wedding/elopement that was the exact style I wanted.  In fact, you've inspired me to revist it!  It may not be "appropriate" for eloping but who cares??  It's FAB.U.LOUS.

It is a gorgeous dress and I would love to try it on and play dress up.  However, it is not my style and I would not wear it for the wedding day.  I ended up with a very simple dress.

I've seen it look lovely, and I've seen it look not so lovely.  There was a bride on SYTTD an episode or two ago that tried it on and I was excited since I'd only ever seen it in photographs.  However, once she tried it on I was not impressed.  (Ironically, neither was she, even though she'd gone to Kleinfelds just to try on that dress.)  I think it would depend on how it looked on you.

lol @ MissNoodles! I know how you feel.

I've always made fashion statements and assumed them. Good or bad I was confident and that's the image I projected. And I know we may look back in 20 years and say "What was I thinking?" but heck, who actually adores their mom and grandmother's dresses anyways. Although probably classy, would you wear it today? My kids will be able to say that it is not their style but at least their mom had guts! lol

The catch-22 of most high-fashion pieces is that while they will be remarkable to many, they won't be for everyone.

If you want to sell your house, you paint it white and beige, because it's OK with everyone.

Do you want to be OK with everyone or knock your own socks off?

My gown was one of my biggest splurges (although I intend to sell it), and I thought it was worth every penny.

If it were my dream dress, my only reservation on spending big on that Monique is that rosette skirts are a very common trend right now.

Ah, the Sunday Rose.  It's a gorgeous dress.

However, I feel as though every high end designer has a version of this dress now.  It's still beautiful!!!

Honestly - no.  I don't care for this dress at all and wouldn't spend any amount of money on it.

This style is very much a "love it or hate it" look with no in between.

No.  Not my style - I've seen that sort of textured skirt look great on people, but to me it just makes me think of tissue paper.  It's very well done for the type of dress it is, but it fills me with no.

statement dresses like that are not really my style... I'd much prefer a clean, classic look. but if it's what you like... go for it! You want to remember feeling happy on your wedding day; not wishing you had another dress.

Ok, so I know there's a more eloquent way to say this but I tend to have opinions like a guy.  My first thought was: it looks like a chicken.  :(  I'm not trying to offend anyone or anything and I know it's expensive and all that but it's not my taste at all!  But if you love it, that's all that matters!
