Would you want a ring that looked just like it, or something totally different?
I lost my ring this weekend, and while we are waiting to see if somehow it turns up somewhere unexpected in the next month, I am trying to face the reality of getting a new ring.
I wanted to change looks entirely, because i feel like getting the same thing would be faking my old ring. Kind of like if my dog died, I wouldn’t buy a new tri-colored corgi to replace him, I’d get something new.
However I just realized that Darling Husband seems really hurt by this idea, and wants my rings to be the same as the ones he gave me (btw, I lost my e-ring + wedding enhancer as they were soldered together)
What would YOU do? (Not asking what I should do, I want to know how others would feel in this situation)

First, I would die.
Then, I would zombie back to life and probably get something similar.
Because let’s face it.
I REALLY love the ring I picked.

I might get the same setting but with a different center stone, so it is round instead of princess cut. So it echoed the original but was different.
OR, if I could find it, there was a setting I liked slightly more than the one we chose, but in the end deemed too fancy (had lots of little cutouts and swirly patterns). I might go for the fancier setting if given the choice.

I’d replace it with something similar. I might make the band a bit thinner and the diamond a bit bigger.

I’d replace the morganite with a champagne sapphire but everything else would be exactly the same 🙂
(and this I’d only do because sapphire is harder/tougher)

I’d get something the same. I love my ring!
But then again I’m the type of person who would replace my dog with another similar dog. I have a brown and white Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and if something were to happen to her I’d want another Cavalier. If it was the same colour or different, I’d be fine with it. But I picked my dog out because her breed is the breed I feel suits my personality best and fits best with the rest of our household and will still be good if we have kids. When my favourite shoes are to the point where they’re no longer wearable, I wish I had another pair the exact same. Same with my jeans, I always wish that I had bought 3 pairs of the same style! But that’s just me…

The exact same if it was available or something very similar.

We have insurance, so heaven for bid that my ring ever gets lost or stolen the value of the ring is covered. I would get exactly the same ring or as close to it as possible. I feel no desire to chany my e-ring in anyway. My fiance choose my solitare e-ring and I love it. No need to improve something that is perfect in my eyes.

I would get a different cut and maybe a bigger stone, but I’d have a setting custom made that looks as much as possilbe like the setting I have now. I think it would compliment my SO on the good taste he had when he chose my ring. the setting is the part about my ring that is unique anyway. I would choose moissanite even though my original e-ring has a diamond.

@Torrid: thanks for the laugh!!

I’d get the exact same. I love my engagement ring so much!

I would get exactly the same thing. However, it would probably have to be custom made, because no stores carry my ring style any longer–at least I can’t find any that do. The only change that I might possibly make would be to have it made in platinum instead of white gold, but then again, maybe not.

I’d cry. I probably would throw a fit and then go on a search for something that looked exactly the same. My wedding band is so unique I just don’t ever want anything different… I would maybe ask for a 1.20 ct diamond ering if we have to buy a whole new set anyway lol. Just a little bigger but still looks pretty much the same!

@MrsNerdy: Oh wow that really sucks you lost your ring Was it insured?
As for replacement I lost my ring also many years ago and as much as I tired to replace it with the same exact ring it just didn’t feel the same. So I say go for something totally different.

I would get the same ring, after searching frantically EVERYWHERE
