If you own a vibrator- where did you get it/how much did you pay for it?

@ForeverBirds:  I’ve spent $10 or so on toys from a university “Sexual Health Resource Centre” (the kind of place that sell 10 condoms for $2)… and yeah, they broke pretty quickly and were not of high quality.

Recently my DH bought me a rabbit-style toy (sorry I have no idea of it’s actual name since i threw away the box, it’s not the original famous “Rabbit” but pretty similar) that cost about $70 from a local sex shop (not a chain) and it was SOOOOO worth it, so much better quality.

And it’s worth pointing out that cheap toys are made with phthalates, which are toxic. These things are pretty poorly regulated, so it’s up to the consumer to ensure the thigns they are putting up their bits are made with safe materials 🙂

@ForeverBirds:  Avoiding the toxic shit mentioned above, I’d probably go with a couple cheaper toys at first because you don’t know what’s going to work for you. For some people you just need a little bullet for clitoral stimulation, while some people need something inside against their g-spot. Or the egg things. Or something with girth. So before investing $50+ on something that might not be your cup of tea, I’d try a few out and then invest in something long-lasting once you know what works.

@ForeverBirds:  It is worth investing!  The materials are more durable, easy to clean, and offer more options (usually different vibe patterns – find the one that works for you!) There are also lots that are rechargeable.  I would totally recommend the Lelo brand – in fact, they just won the 2013 best product line for women award!

I’d recommend a silver bullet type if you prefer clitoral stimulation. You can buy them on amazon! lmao

Um, well.  If we are being honest and all.

I got mine at one of those Slumber Party events. (think tupperware or mary kay, but for sex toys. yeah.)   It was about $40 I think.   I thought the prices at the Slumber Party events weren’t too bad, but girls do start drinking at them and then any common sense goes straight out the window.   I will admit mine was a wine-induced purchase …. Hence my $40 bright blue glittery jelly 9 incher of doom.   Embarassed  I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought it…. I chucked it about 2 years ago because it was just too too too embarrassing.

If I were doing it again I would go through one of the bigger online stores, look at the reviews, and go from there.

@ForeverBirds:  That’s good!!! 🙂

Well in that case I have to agree with what @lia said, it’s true that a bullet vibrator can be enough for some people, and those are no where near as expensive as the type of toy I mentioned! I only went for the nicer one after trying out the crappier ones. so indeed, this is solid advice!

ETA: Though, if you get one that vibrates and is also meant to be inserted…well, you cover all your bases!

@ForeverBirds:  I’ve spent anything from $10 to about $70

I would recommend getting a mid range one, with variable speeds.

I have purchased through Fantasia, Passion Parties, as well as at the Love Shop or Stag Shoppe.

I highly recommend them – FH and I have a small collection of fun 🙂

ETA – eggs are great – you can also get ones that have attachments/sleeves so you can get more bang for your buck 😉

Also – I recommend the cleaners you can buy, they’re not expensive and they make life so much easier.  With the eggs – watch for seams and joints, they’re a haven for bacteria.

If you’ve never played with a vibrator before, I would start with something simple like a silver bullet. All those rabbits and twisting turny vibrating multi stimulators can be scary! The silver bullet should be more than enough to start with and be less than 20 bucks

I’m seconding Lelo. I’d highly suggest investing in a high quality vibrator. I’ve owned cheap ones before, and Lelos are just SO much better. I have the Lelo Siri, which is an excellent bullet vibratpr that has tons of intensity settings and six patterns. I’ve owned it for two years and it still works perfectly. It even holds a charge for like a month!

I have to second what others are saying about lelo. I like that they don’t look… um, raunchy.

Mine was purchased for $18 way back when I was 18! (Happy birthday to me!)

It’s slightly smaller than a real penis, and has three vibrational settings! So it’s good for whatever you’re in the mood for.

Another vote for lelo! I can’t remember the name of mine but it’s the one shaped kind of like a banana. I think it was $100-120. with cheaper ones I noticed that as the batteries got low the vibrations weren’t strong enough so I would change them. I ended up having tons of half used batteries around and buying batteries makes seemingly affordable toys more expensive. I love that lelo products are rechargeable. I’ve had mine for a few years, 3 maybe, and it’s still great
