…is it weird to ask for it back after the wedding?
It was a bit of a splurge and I’m pretty sure our flower girl will outgrow it quickly, and I’d either like to donate it or re-sell it to give someone a chance to have such a nice dress for less (plus making back some of the money we spent would be helpful if we can re-sell)
Or does it have some sentimental value that they may want it for? I just can’t see it being useful or more sentimental than the pictures we’re going to frame for them.

It wouldn’t be bad, but it would be weird. It’d be like asking for a gift back.

Sounds like a gift and so asking for it back is a bit… rude?

@lovelyduckie: I think there is a way to do it but you would definitely need to make it clear ahead of time what you planned to do.
” I am going to provide the dress, but I need you to know that I am going to (sell, donate) it after the wedding.”

I saw it as a gift to my flower girl, so I would not have felt right asking it for it back. Try to find a dress that’s within your budget or maybe even borrow?
