So, I’m paying for part of my girls’ dresses already (about $200 each), and I plan to pay for their makeup the day of ($45.) I don’t have tons to spend, but I’d like to get them something nice that they could use afterward to say thanks for taking time out of their schedules to support me on the most important day of my life so far.
I bought them vera bradley tote bags embroidered with their names, each one in colors that totally remind me of my ladies ($45.) Beautiful etsy robes to get ready in that are long ($30.) I’m sorry if you ladies like the short ones, but I don’t want to worry about my a** showing when I get my pictures back. Lol! I was thinking of personalizing a wine glass or a tervis cup. If I did the wine glass, I’d throw in a bottle of their favorite wine too. Should I do more or something different? I’m second guessing all of my decisions right now.
What are your thoughts? I know personal gifts are best, but I just hit a road block when I try to think of any.
FYI, nothing has ‘bridesmaid’ or our wedding date on it.

I like the tote bag idea but I personally don’t like anything with my name embroidered on it.. The robes are OK, kind of a common gift now. I don’t like the wine glass idea as you would be giving them only one, and I like my glasses to match. I also don’t like the idea of giving alcohol as a gift but that may be just a personal thing with me.

holy wow! Helping w the dress & make up would be good enough to me! lol Throwing in the tote and robe is plenty! Great gifts!!

I wouldn’t count the robes as part of my gift because I already have a robe, don’t need another one, and if you’re buying it for me to get ready in on the day of your wedding, then it’s part of your wedding and no real treat for me. If you’ve not already bought them, then maybe use that money on something else.
Also I wouldn’t want my name on a wine glass, and one lonely wine glass does me no good. A pair of nice wine glasses with no names would be great because then I can enjoy a glass of wine with someone else and not look like I’m scraping the back of the cabinet to find something to drink out of.

I’d be totally happy with those gifts, and it’s very nice of you to contribute to the dress and makeup. I think between the wine glass and tumbler, I’d prefer receving a tumbler. It’ll help everyone stay hydrated throughout the day.

Sounds good to me! I’m not sure about the one mismatched wine glass – what you listed already sounds awesome. BUT I’d be psyched about a bottle of wine!!

I would add a bottle of wine to their tote bag, but no personalized wine glass. Nobody needs one glass that doesn’t match anything else they own.

I guess I’m weird. I have a set of wine glasses already. I reserve those for when I have company. Otherwise, I drink out of my fun funky glasses that I only have one of.
Down here in Texas everything seems to be embroidered or personalized. I guess maybe I get carried away with that.

@MoodyFoodie: When I got to the glass and wine, I was sold lol; honestly, I’d be happy just with that! I do like the idea of the robes too though 🙂
I think you’re being very generous, esp as you’re paying for their dresses 🙂

I’d love it all apart from the wine glass, but love wine! We have full sets of matching glasses.
In the UK our bridesmaid gifts are quite modest and I have been given jewellery to wear on the day every time i have been bridesmaid and loved that too (they have all bought my dress). I gave my bridesmaids a robe (not embroidered) and a heartfelt thank you card. I paid for their hair/shoes/dresses (not make up as i didn’t even have my own make up professionally done).

Nope, I do that too, as do quite a few people I know. I love glassware and often pick bits up at charity shops; they foten don’t have full sets (plus, who wants like a dozen different full sets?! lol) so I’ll just get one or two, for my personal use. I have about 5 different glasses atm and alternate between them 😀

I agree with @ButterflyButterfly: for the most part. I think the totes are a great idea, but if you haven’t already embroidered their names on it, I wouldn’t. I don’t like my name on things where you can see it. The robes are okay, probably something more that you want for picture purposes? The pics will look good, but I haven’t worn my “getting ready” robe from my wedding at all since then. I don’t think you can include the make-up price as a gift, since they are doing it to be in your wedding. I would, however, love a bottle of wine – or better yet a bottle of champagne!

@MoodyFoodie: all of your gift ideas are very generous. you had me at the wine.

Those sound like awesome gifts!!
Paying for part of the dress. any part of it is super awesome. I really appericated that in one of the several weddings I’ve been in!!

@Hemnes: I think that our gifts are more modest as we pay for the dresses, and, if we want certain hair/make-up we typically pay for that too, as well as accessories etc.
My girls dresses are costing up to £220 each, so I can’t really afford to spend a fortune; I’m thinking about £40-50 each. Totally stuck atm though; I’m getting one of them a thin (1.5mm) yellow gold ring, but no idea what to get the other 4 :-s The junior BM is going to be esp difficult as I don’t have a clue what 11 year old girls like these days!
