If you were the one expected to propose, how would you do it?

If it were me, I would take him out for sushi and a movie, and then take him to the big gazebo on the campus of the university where we met and propose under the stars with a mangagement ring. (:

Ohhh, I would probably take him to a sports game and do it on that zumbatron thing.  I’m not crazy about guys doing it for girls, but hello – guys love sports!  Is there a better way? lol  It would be either that or something super sentimental/sweet to us, like our first date (which was Pinkberry first, sushi after) or maybe at the most amazing vacation we’d ever been on (Riviera Maya, Mx).

But, I’m really glad that it’s the guy’s “job” to do it.  I like thinking about him kneeling in the shower before we went out, practicing how to propose.  And, thinking about him going to the jeweler to get me a ring and making sure it’s perfect and planning something special for me.  Seriously, he should propose to me like every week!!! lol

@HopefulSim:  My first reaction adn thought to the question was a super romantic private proposal with candles everywhere and crazy fancy meal.

Then I realized that was all me….HE would actually like something like hand gliding or sky diving and I propose someway in there.

I’d probably do something low key. Like at home after a dinner date or something. He wouldn’t want a crowd and would prefer something more intimate – much like me!

Probably much like my husband did.  Random “if we get married…” (from the never getting married boyfriend – accepted and never pressured him btw).  Then we talked about it and agreed we wanted to.  But for us anything else would have just be weird. If he’d have went all out and such I’d have side eyed him and been “So, what’s this about?  Are there hidden cameras, is this some weird TV show?”.

I am kinda planning how I would in case he doesn’t by the end of our  timeline (not that I think that will happen!). We’ve agreed that he can have a man-gagement ring (and I got it this week, weee!) I think I would recreate our firsts, then go to the top of a mountain overlooking the city at night and propose there.

He knows that if society didn’t expect him to propose that I would have already done it >.<

@HopefulSim:  I have been trying to think of ways to propose to my girlfriend. I think the best proposal would involve romance. Problem. I am not a romantic guy.

If a girl proposed to me. I would like a home cooked meal a tv remote and a beer.

Fun question… I think I’d be pretty low key about it dinner and then when we are alone, do my I love you speech and can’t imagine my life without you….It was simple but intimate.

@GamerGuy:  Thanks for sharing your perspective!  I wondered what kind of proposal a guy would actually want.

I would totally start it with a scavenger hunt–I love scavenger hunts!  I’ve made a few for various people in the past, but I’m doing one for FI’s birthday coming up.  I’m sending him to different places that mean something to us as a couple–the clues will be handwritten on pretty paper with velum, or maybe something that looks like a treasure map 🙂  Every note will have a small gift with it, and the last clue will lead him to our favorite restaurant where we’ll have lunch (I’m surprising him with a night out with friends for the evening).

If I were to propose, I’d probably do something very similar, only ending at a romantic location or nice restaurant where I’d pop the question.
