Mine was very large font (18), one page single spaced. Probably took 2 minutes. Anything longer than that just gets silly.

I’m also very curious about this since we are also writing our own vows.

    I’m bumping this.

Mine were also 2 minutes, pretty sure our entire ceremony was about 15 minutes. My husband’s vows were 2 minutes originally but he had a stop and cry a few times, so it took him a little longer. :..)

Mine were somewhere between 1-1.5 minutes. Our whole ceremony was about 25 minutes. I think my husband’s vows were in the same time frame. When he was writting his vows he did some internet searching and saw that the vows should be about the same length.

I didn’t time mine, but I want to say that they were around 2 minutes.

Mine were a little longer than they should have been at closer to 4 minutes, but I had a LOT of stuff to say, lol. The guests didn’t seem to mind, though, as there was hardly a dry eye in the place, and a couple of them have joked about me writing their vows for them when the time comes. 😛

@HappinessIsInDaisies:  our in home ceremony was ALL ABOUT THE VOWS and nothing else! So, we each wrote our own, AND included the standard American traditional vows heard in most ceremonies.

When I timed mine after editing, it took 7 mins in a slow speaking voice. But day of, during ceremony, I think it took less time. DH vows were a tad longer than mine because he included so much scripture…we didn’t have anyone else do readings. In all, our total wedding ceremony was right around 20 minutes.

Mine was about a minute or so guessing – it was three shortish paragraphs. One the wedding day it took me probably three times longer to read because I started crying into the second sentence and had to stop often to cry, lol. DH’s probably was 3-4 minutes. He told a little story. I would always plan for your ceremony to run longer than planned. We estimated twenty minutes for our ceremony but it took over half a hour when you factor in the walks (our flower girl milked her walk, lol) and the crying!

@HappinessIsInDaisies:  I didn’t think I’d cry because I didn’t cry during our first look. I got teary-eyed when I wrote out my vows, but on our wedding day I ended up crying much sooner than I thought… like right away, lol. His vows were so touching, especially hearing them the first time on such a happy day. I cried through his too, lol. I had him carry a handkerchief in his coat pocket so plan on having tissue or something to wipe your eyes 🙂  Good luck! Everyone said how beautiful our ceremomy was (a lot of our guests were crying too, lol) and our personal vows definitely made it special!
