My dad paid for mine it was $1250 but on sale for $500. I had originally put a dress on lay away & intended to pay for it myself. Me & my mom went to look for BM dresses of all things & I found that dress.. My dad met me back up at the boutique & he loved it. He said that if I wanted it then it was mine & bought it.. Luckily I was able to get my money back off the one on lay away.

I’d probably ask them what amount they thought was reasonable to spend. Some parents might find $4k doable, some parents might want to keep it under $1k. This way, there aren’t any surprises.

whatever they told me the limit is, within reason. i couldn’t imagine spending more than $3k on a dress, but that doesn’t mean i wouldn’t if i had the means.

My goal was to buy a dress for under $500 and pay for it myself. If my parents offered to pay, it would still be my goal to spend $500 or less because I just can’t see spending crazy amounts of money on something I’m going to wear once, no matter whose money it is. I’d rather my parents put money towards something else, like photography, alcohol for the reception, honeymoon…

My mom offered to pay up to 1000$, I didn’t think that was possible to find something for that much (I generally have expensive taste), then we found a dress in little seamstress’s shop and I  bought it for $250… my mom was thrilled and so was I!

My parents bought mine.  After alterations, it came to $10,000.  If I had to pay for it myself, I would not have spent that much.

My mom has always said since I was little that she’ll buy my wedding dress but recently she’s had some health issues and as a result isn’t in such a great place financially anymore. But right announcing my engagement, my dad and quasi-step mom offered to buy my dress. So I do know it’s covered, somehow.

But that being said.. I can’t imagine spending more than 500 dollars.

I would be the one who spent as little as I possibly could.  I am too considerate to take advantage of anyone.

Whatever they willing to pay/set a limit for [within reason] I suppose. I’m not going to fleece my parents just because they offer to buy something for me.

I would probably try and keep it around $500-1000, & would probably pay for alterations myself.

I always said that I was going to buy my dress since I didn’t want to feel guilty for how much it costs.  However, my mom surprised me by offering to pay for it.  At this point, I had already picked it out.  That being said, it was just under $2k.  My parents are being so generous as they’re also paying for my reception.  I still feel super guilty but am very appreciative.

i would ask them what they think is reasonable. then if i found something more expensive (though i would try to stay in their budget, but i was VERY picky about my dress and it was one of the most important things for me), i would pay the difference myself
