We (all the women in my family, so usually a gaggle of 5-10 women) ususally hit up Chesterfield Mall and all the little malls along the way. So we'll be close to you.
We don't make a list. Just head out around 5 a.m. and get to work! This year we're cutting things off around 2 p.m. though.
Whew, I've never done this and I never will! I can't deal with the madness! FI and I went to Circuit City a few years ago on Black Friday to get a big screen TV, but we didn't go 'til like 11 am, so that doesn't really count!
More power to those of you that jump right in though!
I just saw a commercial that Old Navy is opening at 3 am!!!!! 3?!?! I mean hell, why even close the night before? haha
I'm going BM dress shopping! I'm not sure how the crowds will be, but it was a good time for all the girls to be together.
@Miss Marshmallow, Chestefrfield Mall how cool! You are close to me! I'm thinking Plaza Frontenac--mostly so I can avoid the "gaggle" of moms with little kids and large groups of people buying for their families (versus me buying mostly for ourselves lol). I really am banking on it being less crowded, but I really could just be kidding myself =]. Trying to avoid too much madness.
3am?!?!?! Holy hell. No thank you. Now midight? I could do midnight or 11pm shopping.
We go every year but rarely have a list. I never try to get one of those CRAZY deals that there are like 10 of for 1000 people. Usually we look for stores that have good door-busters and just kind of wander :)
@honeybun- the outlet mall by me opens at 11pm thanksgiving night :) Last year we got there at midnight, shopped until 3, hung out at dennys until 5, then hit up the normal mall.
I usually just head to the mall and wander. This year, though, my fiance's days off during the entire month of November will be Thanksgiving and Black Friday. They're on a big deadline and working nights and weekends. Since I'm pretty sure that wild horses wouldn't be strong enough to drag him into a mall on Black Friday, I have to decide whether I'd rather spend the day with him or go shopping. Or maybe just go shopping at the ass-crack of dawn, and then spend the rest of the day with him.
I hate crowds, but not enough to pass up the deals. :o)
I'll be out and about early that morning (have to drive the hubbers to work at 5:30 am anyways, so might as well head straight to the stores afterwards), but I'll totally have a list in hand and stores in mind. I get what I need and go home. Although I'll probably be jamin' to my ipod while waiting in those loooong lines. :o)
Just the thought of shopping on Friday makes me cringe. I can't stand crowds and have yet to see a deal good enough to compel me out. As it turns out I have to work so I couldn't go even if I wanted to, which is probably for the best!
My mom and I already have our lists made. In fact, I'm in the process of emailing mine to her right now.
I think we're just hitting the big box stores this year. The mall has been a total disappointment for the last couple of years, especially since we go to the outlets the next day.
A few of our malls are opening at midnight on Thanksgiving, so I think me and my MOH or MIL will be hitting those up, if I feel better. And i'll definitely have a list - I always check to see what's going to be on sale. But I always find other stuff too!! Our outlet mall has a Bath and Body Works outlet - I'm excited to hit that up!
AHHH!! Im sooo mad.. every year my mom and I go shopping at like 5AM, but this year I dont have no money to go!!!! My mom and I are like biggggg shoppers we could for hours, all day (all year round). Last year we got in line at Target, it went all the way around to the back of the building!! It was a blast! We normally go in and know what we are looking for(from looking at the ads the day before) and get out and go to the next store!!
I usually just go with somewhat of a plan, but no lists or anything. I usually go shoping for myself and not so much for Christmas gifts, hehe :)
I'll print out any coupons I get via e-mail the night before and have an idea of where all the sales are, look around and buy if the mood strikes. Generally speaking, I'm on the lookout for clothes and accessories for myself.
I plan to maybe go to the outlet malls, do quite a bit of online shopping, and maybe hit the mall. I'd like to get some sweaters since I have more summer than winter clothes so we'll see.
Listed below is a link to the places that are having their Black Friday sales. Not all of them are in yet, but the stores to the right of the link that have numbers listed are stores that already have their ads posted. Others are still yet to post over the next few days.
Also try www.shoplocal.com because it will have all the ads so you won't have to buy a newspaper the day of Thanksgiving.
I may venture out in the afternoon for a while. All that craziness isn't worth it to me, and there is no way I'm hitting Old Navy at 3AM.
Last year I went out with FMIL and FSIL in the late morning and it wasn't bad at all- makes me a little braver to try it again this year.
I want a new SLR so if any of you see spanking deals on Canon's let me know!
@MissSapphire: Check best buy's ad. I think I saw something in there. I use this website: www.bfads.net
@ Hot child:
Thanks! I just looked and they have a good selection but of course not the Rebel T1i that I was looking for.
There's a great deal on the D5000 Nikon though if anyone is interested
Ah ha! Never mind! Hotchild you're the best! They do that the Rebel!
My Mom and I usually hit up the mall or the downtown outdoor shops. We never get up at 4 AM (although I've always been intrigued by those that do) mainly because we aren't really out for the big sales, we just like to walk around and take it all in.

Do you shop just to shop or do you have your eyes on something in particular?
I want to hit up this fancy mall nearby (it's got a Neiman Marcus, Tiffanys, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Juicy, etc) for their JCrew, Banana Republic, Williams Sonoma, and Pottery Barn sales. This mall is likely to have the least amount of people because it's high-end and there are far fewer stores. Hopefully. I'm only interested in those 4, honestly.
I want some light sweaters from JC and BR, and maybe some random gift shopping--a fish pan/spatula for dad at WS, maybe some cool home decor from PB. I want to be done by 9am.
I know I"ll have to bribe DH with steak if i want a buddy that morning.
You?
