Yeah I've done it--- you can just stop taking them halfway through, then resume the week of, then go right into the next pill pack.
The problem is that this screws up your ovulation cycles though, so you have to use back up birth control. I think you'd be better off just skipping your placebos and going right into the next pill pack personally. I've done that for vacations/etc with no side effects. :)
I think it depends on what type of pill you're on. Are you on the type with increasing levels of hormones depending on where you are in your cycle, or the kind with the same level of hormones the entire month?
ETA: @MrsDulce: I agree. I've skipped my period before and it works just fine.
@MrsDulce: That's what I first wanted to do but my doc said it's not guaranteed that it will skip and I'm scared of breakthru bleeding.
@JenniMichele: I'm on YAZ so I think its the same level of horomones thruout the pack. Its 24 pills and 4 placebos...
Yea you can do this... but it will take a few months at least to change your ovulation cycle. How much time do you have? Plus, you will need to use other forms of birth control while your cycle is changing.
Yup..if i wanted to get it a few days early..I would stop taking it a few days early...I never really did it though for more than 2-3 days early...
I would just skip the placebos and go right to a new pack... Its easier that skipping some pills and trying to change the date of ur period.
I have 6 months til our wedding. I got 2 extra packs of BC from the gyno so I wanted to try to get it off cycle NOW so I don't have to worry about it the month before. I don't want to try to skip it too close to the wedding in case it doesn't work or I have breakthru bleeding.. :-/
I've tried this in the past, and it hasn't worked very well for me. As others have said, I think you'll have more luck by skipping or delaying periods as opposed to having them early. This will avoid the problems of breakthrough bleeding, having to use condoms as backup, and unpredictability.
Another question: If you skip your period 1 month, will it come 1 week earlier than it is supposed to the next month, or will it come on the same week as always?
I've never opted to get my period early, but I do delay it from time to time. I just keep taking active pills and either skip the inactive ones or take the inactive ones a week late. Never had any problems with spotting doing this. I think it's easier to just delay it then to get it early.
So if I wanted to get it 2 weeks late, could I just keep taking active pills for 2 weeks after the last active pill on my current pack (so I skip the placebos)?
@cherrycoke: I've done it both ways. I've made it come early and I've skipped it all together. Since you are far away you can do this right now and then just change the way you're cycle is. Skip a week. Take your placebo pills. Then just start a new pack like you always would. This will give you plenty of time to reconfigure yourself.
I have skipped them as well by just continuing into a new pack with out taking the placebo pills, however I have had a little spotting (not normal) for me, at times when I have done this.
i've skipped on accident like a week or two, and i just got my period the same time.so that method doesn't work
if you don't want to have your period on your wedding day, all you have to do is keep taking your pills. skip the placebo's and go on to your next pack. it works! done it before. and lots of my friends do it... that's how i know about it! lol your period just starts up when you stop taking it.

at first I wanted to try skipping the placebo pills to skip my period, but a nurse told me there was a way i can get my period earlier so I just get it a week before the wedding... but I don't remember what she said.. and it doesn't make sense to me how my body would make it come a week earlier than it's supposed to. has anyone ever done this?!
