First and foremost…

CONGRATULATIONS on your Engagement !!

And that is one GORGEOUS Ring.

As for the comments of others…

All I can do is agree really.

Seems to me that perhaps indeed there are many lately (and it isn’t just one generation) who have been living under a rock, or having their brains sucked out of their skulls c/o tv, video games, and crappy music.

Lol, reading and thereby self educating… to learn more about the world is a lost art.

The ability to act appropriately in situations (have manners) seems to be a thing of the past… and yes it can be alarming how everyone has become soo familiar that they feel they can comment on everything about another.

I’ve learned to perfect the “glaring eye” (stare)… and a very heavy handed “Really ?” or “Pardon” for such occasions

Lol, the receiver sadly can be too out of touch to always get the gist… but it does make me feel better.

Yes, ERings & Weddings bring out the worst in some people.  Even in my age group (over 50), I’ve been asked inappropriate questions about our Ring, Wedding & Honeymoon Plans, Financial Situation… lol even my Sex Life

Most of the time I don’t reply or walk away.  BUT yes there are occasions where I’ve had to take action (like the person who asked me every time she saw me for a month… how big my diamond was, and how much it cost).

Soooo RUDE

*NOTE – For the record, I’m not a total stuck up prude.  I do share some stuff with my closest of friends (like how big my Feature Diamond is, or how much our Honeymoon Cruise Cost etc… BUT these are my choices to tell).  I don’t respond well to inquiries about my personal life… and not when they come often enough in a pattern as to be some apparent demand / need to know.

The woman is an idiot. Don’t waste any more time or energy trying to analyse the comment.

ETA Beautiful ring

@minipenguin:  Um. She’s an idiot. I would have told her “Do you know that REAL diamonds don’t naturally grow in the state you’ve seen? They are CUT to shape, you tool.”

First of all, that ring is STUNNING. Second of all, congratulations! Third, so many women would KILL for that gorgeous stone! I hate people in general who can’t hold their tongue and that seems to just be the way things go when you’re getting married. I got engaged last Sunday and I can’t even count the stupid crap people have said to me between now and then. I was prepared to some extent but it’s just amazing that it starts ASAP when you have a ring on that finger. People were already pressuring me because we don’t have a date (don’t I have to find a venue to lock in a date?!?!) and saying if I don’t get X photographer, my wedding is a waste and so on and so on. I think weddings prepare us for the tougher skin we need once we start having kids– and for those who have kids already, I can only imagine how you haven’t killed someone yet with all the crap people think is okay to say to a new mom! You’re all my heroes!

Who has never heard of a marquise cut? What a weirdo, don’t let it get to you because you know it’s just stupid and silly!

I don’t think there’s anything I could add about the comments made by the high school friend, but I just wanted to add that I LOVE marquise diamonds! They’re my favourite cut!

Huge congrats on your engagement!!  Your ring is STUNNING!!  I don’t have a marquise myself, but I think they are so stunning.  That ring looks perfect on your finger too :).  I can’t believe how ignorant and rude that girl is, but try not to waste any more time worrying about her.

What a moron. Also, how old are you guys? I’m 24 and I saw tons of marquise diamonds growing up because they were very popular in the 80s/90s (not that they aren’t still!) but I just can’t believe she’s never seen one? Your ring is beautiful!
