omg Iguanas will just run from you. My father lives in Key Largo and has caught quite a few iguanas on job sites, you see them EVERYDAY. I have never seen an aggressive iguana, they are actually quite docile. They just sit on the rocks and absorb the sun, they seriously don’t bother anyone.

No need to worry, they are really sweet lizards if you can believe it. We had a few as pets because my dad would catch them and bring them home. We never had a problem and they were full grown when they were caught.

TRUST ME you will be fine.

Haha, yeah – the minute you approach them, they will run away. Just be careful if you have a fruity drink with fruit hanging off of it though. They’re known to sneak up next to you and snach a pineapple off of your drink!

They are everywhere in the Caribbean, too. I actually took more pictures of iguanas on our St. Thomas honeymoon than anything else, I think. I’m fascinated by them. haha  But, they’ll stay away. Don’t worry! ๐Ÿ™‚

@beeloved: are you sure that they were fighting and not playing. Was there blood? haha I’m sure it was play. Anyway, they aren’t a biting lizard. Like 2PeasinaPod  mentioned, they might steal your fruit if they are brave, but not out of your hand maybe if you set your drink down and walk away for a while. For the most part they are scared of people unless the people feed them, then in that case what an awesome experience. Feed the iguanas you will be amazed how non-aggressive they are. Actually kinda cute. or maybe not if you’re that fearful, you could watch from afar.

No matter what, don’t try to grab iguanas by their tails.  They can drop their tail, basically severing it from their body.  The detached tail will wiggle around for a while on its own!

@beeloved: Iguanas are so not a big deal. i would actually be excited if the hotel had iguanas – I think they are really cool!! They are more afraid of you than you are of them. It’s absolutely nothing to be worried about.

@beeloved: oh no problem! I think once you’re there you are going to realize that there is nothing to be concerned about. Have a wonderful time!

You’ll see the iguanas everywhere in Mexico. But they don’t want anything to do with you either, so you should be ok. ๐Ÿ™‚

The Valentin has a very nice beach.

Have a great trip!

I saw them in Costa Rica. They don’t want to be any where near you and they are not hostile at all. You most likely won’t even notice them.
