@Laurenskii:  I am very religious, but I have to agree with you.  It seems like the person is showing off how religious they are.  I always think of Matthew 6:

“When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.  But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

Wonderful point. I think it is very show off-y

@Laurenskii:  the ones that periodically do that, you can block their posts. They won’t know. But you won’t see any of their updates or images on your news feed.

I only get the ones that say click like and share if you believe in God. And those miracles exist because of God stories. And numerous request for prayers for family or friends. Never any prayers though. That is weird. But I just typically scroll past things like that.

I get annoyed by the fb couples. I get this guy that tells his gf he is going to “marry the shit out of her someday”. And they both do the overly PDA thing. Its quite funny sometimes… But its almost as though they are trying to prove to others that they are in love. And it gets annoying. Also, the girl that posts images every time she is breast feeding. That gets annoying. (I am all for BFing, and even in public. But I don’t need to know or see it everytime it happens.) And the conspiracy theories that pop up that everyone panics about and then forgets. And the stupid images that everyone likes or comments on and shares because it says to like it you love grandma, ignore if you want her to die. Hell, I’m not even sure I know why I keep a Facebook. Maybe I’m just PMSing too much right now.

I agree, but then there is always going to be someone who is over-sharing on Facebook. One of my Facebook “friends” is constantly posting every burp in her life. Constant constant updates of her profile pic with the duck lips pose. I think it just makes people look desperate for attention.

Agree. It’s like they are trying to one-up their friends on how tight they are with God!

@Laurenskii:  lol, I just block all requests from the people for games. I have not touched the candy crush game every one is addicted to. Luckily enough the whole like this posts have died down on my newsfeed.

@Laurenskii:  just block their posts or unfriend them and move along. No sense getting upset over Facebook. It’s their page they can post what they want. But that doesn’t mean you hve to read it.

LOL!

The other one that drives me nuts is that verrrrrrry serious pose that says “I’m verrry mysterious and I’m thinking about something very important, and don’t I look sexy when I suck my cheeks in and aim the camera above my head so that my double chin doesn’t show so much.” Taken in the mini-van while carpooling the kids to school.

And then her followers start egging her on by “liking” it and posting comments such as “Nice pic, sexy mama!”

Which was the whole point in the first place. Getting the attention fix.

@Laurenskii:  Haha true.. I guess everyone just has their own way of dealing with things. Might seem weird to you and I, but don’t forget we always have the choice of tweaking our newsfeeds.

Still, reading someone’s personal letter to Jesus/God is better than reading “Just had a cookie, will now go to the toilet and off to bed.” That shit makes me cry.

@Laurenskii:  I agree! I have a couple who post a prayer and a Bible verse EVERY SINGLE MORNING. But I also get annoyed at prayer requests. It doesn’t bother me if someone has a sick friend or family member. That is an expected thing to ask for prayers for. What bothers me is the people who ask for prayers for EVERYTHING! I’m talking, “Please pray that _____ has a good day at school today!” “Please pray I don’t run into traffic on my way to work.” “Please pray I get off work early today!” NO! You pray for that stuff. None of that stuff is important enough for people to gather their prayer warriors for…yet it never fails everyone comments, “Praying!” over and over and over. Do they not think God has more important things to worry about than these little trivial things…much less having all your facebook friends praying for these trivial things too?! Ok, done with my rant 🙂
