- Wedding: October 2013
So another weekend another wedding. While I love this part of my job, I have to say for the last year or so, I get a little sour when the weekend rolls around and the wedding guests arrive. Allow me to explain a little, I work in a hotel, in a small town well known for its beautiful weddings; similar to the wedding I’ve always wished for myself since it is my home town.
So when the guests arrive for their wedding, the DIY gift bags with the cute gifts, the beautiful guest boards signed, the beautiful wedding party rushing off to their car while there’s always that one bridesmaid a little behind hopping on one foot, trying to force her shoes on. The pictures, the linen, decor all of it. The happy couple with their DND that goes on the door as soon as they arrive. It all makes me a little green.
My SO said yesterday, when commenting about a coworker calling him my husband, “Well we pretty much are married”. I looked at him crossly and said in a rather stern voice “I don’t think so, you’re not getting off that easy, you had better make it official” and of course I followed up with a laugh and he replies “Well we pretty much are”
Well if he’s trying to get the “milk for free” as the saying goes, it aint happening and I’ll make sure to put back that line he thinks puts us into the married department from the dating department if he thinks he can just skip steps.
Make sense? Sorry I’m just ranting… At work with yet another group of gift bags for yet another wedding party set to arrive tomorrow… I’ll throw myself a pitty party, anyone else wanna join?
