- Wedding: October 2013
Hey Illinois Brides, I need some help! We’re considering asking a close friend of ours to become ordained to marry us. We aren’t religious and so don’t belong to a church or know any pastors who can marry us, nor do we know any judges. We could obviously do some research and find a minister we don’t know, but before we do that, we’d like to see about someone close to us performing the ceremony. From what I’ve found online, marriages in Illinois must be performed by an ordained minister or a judge, but I don’t know the rules on becoming ordained just for the purpose of a wedding. I will obviously find out before the wedding and will definitely call the county office for all the details beforehand, but I was just wondering if anyone had done this already. Did you have to register or anything with county office? Did your friend or family member do a good job? Tell me all about it!
