OK, so I’m 23 (almost 24) and people ALWAYS think I’m 30+. PLEASE don’t say “oh grass is always greener, everyone thinks I’m 18 and it sucks.” Because even if that’s mildly annoying it is NOT an insult to your attractiveness or your ability to age well, so please refrain from humblebragging.
Anyway, I don’t smoke or drink heavily. I don’t tan. I wear SPF 50. I don’t wear a lot of makeup (just foundation most of the time). I don’t dye my hair. My parents both look young for their ages…and then there’s me.
People say it’s just my “mature attitude” but I’m extremely immature! lol
People regularly think I have children, they think I’m in my 30s. This has been happening ever since college. Partly, it could be because in my city, people don’t “settle down” until their 30s, and I’m in a live-in relationship which is unusual for my age. But even then- people RARELY think I’m 23. At the best, it’s 25 or 26. My friends in their 30s claim everyone thinks they’re in high school- and nobody has thought that about me since I was 14!
I’m at my wit’s end. I know things coudl be worse and I am so grateful for my wonderful life, but I really wish I looked my age. I wouldn’t even mind looking older, but look 10 years older is just too much for me to deal with. I’m afraid this means I will look 40 when I’m 30 and so on. I’m even considering plastic surgery.
What can I do? Is there truth behind these comments? It just hurts my feelings so much, I have cried over this many times. The pics below are all of me, taken recently. I don’t seem to have any wrinkle (just minor expression lines if I wear makeup all day, but they go away when I wash my face) so I don’t know why everyone thinks I’m so old!!!! Will it at least get better? Is plastic surgery a good option?

@oldlookingyoungster: I think you’re beautiful and you look to me like you’re in your early twenties.

@greenidlady: Well thank you 🙂 As long as I appear early-mid twenties I’m fine! I mean, I would love to look like a teenager but I don’t see it happening. I just hate how people are so SHOCKED when they find out my age! The fact that you think I look young could be that maybe it’s just my “attitude”. But I never thought I was that mature, lol

Sweetheart! I am not sure how you carry yourself, but I can honestly say that from your pics you absolutly look to be in your early 20’s!! Bright Eyed and Fresh faced!!
People must think you have a mature confident demeanor, appreciate that cause it will help you advance your career faster than your face advances it’s lines

@oldlookingyoungster: I don’t think you look like you’re in your 30s. I think you just have more of a classic beauty to your looks, which makes you appear to be more emotionally mature.

I dont see it. I think that you look young!

@Starling13: If it’s only my demeanor then YES I think it’s a good thing! I just thought it was my face aging badly. lol

@somethingaquamarine: Hm what is a “classic beauty”? I take it as a compliment but idk what it means! lol

Hmm, I don’t think you look like you’re in your 30s either. I mean, I’d believe you if you told me that, but otherwise I’d guess mid twenties.
Maybe your eyebrows are a little too tweezed and shaped? (I know that’s super random. It might contribute to the “mature” look though??) And do you regularly wear lipstick? That also seems a little “mature” to me, but I might be an anomaly on that.
I really don’t see that plastic surgery would do anything….
(Just want to add one sentence: saying that it sucks looking way young isn’t necessarily humblebragging – it sucks balls to look 8-10 years younger than one is and not be taken as seriously in your professional life.)

I agree with previous posters. You definitely look like you’re in your early 20s. Perhaps it’s your clothing style? Because I definitely don’t see it in your face.

@lolot: To me, I would way rather be pretty and not taken seriously than ugly and taken seriously. I feel like anyone who thinks it’s worse to look younger has just not considered the other way around. Maybe the best thing is to look your age, but looking older is NEVER better than looking younger..unless you’re 18 and looking to get alcohol lol
And thanks- I do take pretty good care of my eyebrows, so maybe that’s it! As for lipstick, I tend to just stick to lighter/sheer colors (for this exact reason).

You don’t look old to me at all. I’m 22 so I’m usually pretty good at guessing the ages of people around my age- I would say in the first pic, you look late teens (like college freshman type age), in the second two you look around 21-25, and in the last one maybe 28-29? That might be because your clothing is more mature though. I bet it’s because of your more settled lifestyle. I look younger than my age, but people who know some details about my situation (live with SO, been together 5 years, in a career for two years, etc) assume I’m older than I am.

the first 1 you look 24 the two in the middle I’d say 21 or 22 and one in the right bottom corner I’d say 28.
I think getting plastic surgery is a sure fire way to look twice your age.

@Soon_To_Be_Mrs_T: This is such a huge relief to me. I tend to dress up when I go out (dresses and heels) and I never go out in PINK sweatpants or anything, maybe that’s what’s expected of 20 somethings. lol

@oldlookingyoungster: I do not think you need plastic surgery. I think you should get a hair cut and get it highlighted/colored. Get it cut short with lots of layers, I think it would look really cute. I would also think about getting a nose piercing (idk if that is something you would consider).
