I think you need to keep looking. They won't discontinue it immediately, so see if the stores will call you if they get word that they are discontinuing it. Also, look on preownedweddingdresses.com if you're ok with going that direction, that way you could get a better deal!
Also, have you considered more inexpensive places? Jim Hjelm is pricey if you're looking for the best deal!
I would definitely wait a little while. I bought mine really early (about 14 months), and while I still love my dress, I kind of wish I would have taken a little more time and waited before buying anything.
hmmm honestly i love the first dress!!! i do like the shoulder parts of the third dress too though, that is really pretty.... but overall i like the first :)
anyway, at some point you need to just block out everyone else's opinions and focus on yourself... when you looked in the mirror you felt so beautiful that dress that you cried, right? that means something!
Ugh, I know what you mean about the discontinue worry vs. look around indecision! I fell in love with a dress, well, six months ago now, and finally tried it on in January. SO IN LOVE. NOTHING has been able to budge it from my top dress pick for these past six months. But my wedding isn't till January 2012!! What if by magic I find something I like better? It's terrible. I wish I hadn't even started looking so early, but I'm such a dress fiend, I couldn't help it.
Which season was this style released? Do you know how long the average Jim Hjelm style stays out before it's discontinued? Is this one particularly popular?
Hi all, thanks for the advice.
bloodgo1, I did cry...I want to go visit it again but it will be the 4th time and I think I might be driving the dress shop ladies insane!!!
veganglam - I am a dress fiend too! I have been scouting wedding dresses forever. If I had gotten married a year ago, I know I would have been rockin' a lovely pick up skirt. But now my style/mood/mind is swinging all around between wedding styles. I tried to call the Jim Hjelm people and inquire about how long their lines stay out. This is from Fall 2009. They were not helpful and suggested I call the store, but then the store told me to call the manufacturer. UGH.
In the end, I know it will all work out and I will have the perfect dress, but for now I just can't stop thinking about it. It's so fun even if I am going a little crazy :-)

The first time I went dress shopping, I went with my much younger sis (she's 18, I'm practically 30 *gulp*). I had been stalking Jim Hjelm and his designs for years, wayyyyyyyy before my FH was hearing wedding bells. So I went, I tried on, and I fell for this:
Even thought it is NOT what I thought I wanted, I cried, my sister cried, and later when I brought two of my BMs, they cried too. But...my Mom, my step mom, and my FMIL were NOT impressed. Le sad.
So, in an effort to assure myself that this is THE dress, I went to another store...and that's when the floozing around began!
Now I am SO confused, plus my wedding is not until October 2011, so I feel equal parts pressure to wait "in case something better comes along" and to order it NOW so they don't discontinue it. Also, did I mention I want the BEST deal POSSIBLE?
Help. Please!
