He brought me a bouquet of red and white roses before he picked me up for a super rare Valentine's Day date at fancy restaurant (which we've never done in all the 11 years we've dated). He drove me home as I don't have President's Day off and have to be at work early tomorrow (boo!). I had suspected a proposal so I was getting a bit disappointed on the ride over but I figured I had enjoyed the night anyway, so no sense getting too upset.
He mentioned that he needed to go to the restroom but didn't get to do so at the restaurant and he asked if he could come in to use the facilities. As I was opening the front gate he spun me around and had a bit of a telling look on his face - he bent down on one knee, called me the love of his life, called my by my full name (including middle, which did slightly make me feel like I was in trouble!) and said a few other things which I can't remember because I just recall staring into his eyes and then glancing at the ring and then back at him and then back at the ring and then back at him again, just to make sure the moment was real. And then I said yes... and hugged him on the staircase for a long while why I teared up.
He came indoors (and did in fact use the restroom) we sat and talked for a little while and he explained that since Valentine's Day and Lunar New Year's converged on the same day, it was a really lucky day to get engaged and he didn't want to pass up the opportunity despite the fact that his man-gagement ring is not yet ready yet.
He explained he had pre-requisites to the engagement - that he use my full name to make it formal, that he got down on one knee, and that he didn't propose somewhere cheesy or super public like at the restaurant. That sort of checklist is so like him!
He called me his fiance and future Mrs. ___ tonight. I'm giddy, to say the least. And finally, here's a bad, blurry iPhone photo of my ring which I designed alongside him. The center stone is a pink sapphire. Better photos later when it's not so late.
Wow, i am drooling over your ring right now. I love pink stones so so much! COngratulations!!
Aww, that's sweet, calling you by your whole name. Congrats and beautiful, beautiful ring!
