Rachaelemma:  go on your own dress shopping. That worked for me. Just listen to your own opinion. As randy in say yes to the dress says. Wedding dress shopping is like finding a man! Once you find one you love stop looking!

there will always be new dresses and trends that come out after you commit to a dress but hey who really cares if the neck line is not a deep sweetheart as you would of liked etc Etc! If you love it go for it. And then stop looking or looking up other dresses!

I initially ended up putting a deposit down on a blush ball gown because I listened to others and now I have a diamond white sheath dress. The main criteria for me when I went back shopping again after the first disaster was I wanted a slim fit, ivory or white, with a feature back and sparkle.  If you are looking for too many elements it will make shopping really hard. Have maybe 3 requirements that it needs to have. Fit, colour and then an extra.

Rachaelemma:  I was lucky in that i rang the salon back the same day and told them i was unsure so they waited for me to call them the next week to go ahead and confirm the order. So I cancelled then and got my deposit back. I felt bad because my 3 sisters all loved the dress. When I say I went on my own the next time my mum actually forced me to bring her at the last minute, but i warned he to sit there and wait for me to form my own opinion first. at the time i teared up when i put on the dress and my mum just kinda started laughing at me. she loved it too but only said so after i picked it. the dress i ended up getting nearly met all my criteria it didn’t quite have the flowiness I wanted but to get the flow i needed chiffon and when i tried on chiffon i didn’t like that either! the main reason i picked my dress is that i felt great in it. Regardless of all the pics I had pinned over the previous few month. and even since i’ve seen dresses that i’ve thought wow that is gorgeous but i mean there does come a point where you have to pick a dress and stop looking. And when you pick a dress re-inforce that yes i love it! When i picked my second dress it was due in the end of Sept and we get married mid Nov, so I have no time anyway to change my mind!

You should continue to shop on your own. Hold off on making any big decisions. If you can’t stop thinking about the dress, then it’s the one. If you keep second guessing yourself, then I don’t think the dress is the one.

I knew my dress was the one when I tried it on. However, I didn’t want to be rash, so I waited and continued to dress shop (also b/c I wanted to have the dress shopping experience). However, I compared all of the dresses I tried on to the one I loved. I went back to the shop again and decided to try it on again to confirm that it is the one, and paid the deposit a few weeks later. I personally waited since I like to space out my payments/purchases for any wedding-related thing.

You can always go another route and have a dress made to all of your specifications.

Rachaelemma:  I think two weeks is enough time to squeeze in some more dress appointments, especially during the weekday.

And yes, I still love my dress just as much, if not, even more, than when I first tried it on. I think it was easier for me to find “my dress” because I didn’t have a checklist to begin with. I was pretty realistic about dresses potentially not looking so great on my body frame since I am short (4’10”) and I’m not slender. Appointments were less stressful since I was very open minded to various styles.

It turned out pretty well since my dress has all of the things I love: lace, and bling.

Best of luck to you. And don’t think too much about your top choices. Just pick the dress that your mind always wanders back to.

Rachaelemma:  yes exactly when you feel great and amazing in a dress get that one! I’m sure my dress is not to everyone elses taste but i don’t really care once i feel good in it so just remember that when you try it on. I just had my first fitting on friday i have a thread here about it somewhere with pics. It actually doesn’t need to be altered at all so must be a sign!!

I was like this too!  I ordered one, and cancelled it the next day (thankfully getting my deposit back).  I kept going back to a Justin Alexander that I loved that no one had as a sample (and I looked within a 12 hour radius haha).  I found a salon that was willing to order it for me, and then if I don’t like it when it comes in they will let me use my deposit for something else (so i’m committing to the shop but not necessarily the dress).  I’ve loved the dress for a year and a half, so hopefully I will like it on!  Also I ordered it alone, while thinking clearly.  The whole everyone in the bridal shop, teary moment was overwhelming for me personally and I made a bad decision the first time!
