So, my friends and I were talking about our spouses (or soon to be *wink*) and it somehow got around that we were talking about their ages. Their spouses were either one or two years older then them and when I revealed that my fiance is a year and a half younger then me ( By four months!) I was immeadiately called a cougar. Wait..what? I am 24! How can I be a cougar to a guy who is 22-soon to be 23? Does this make any sense? We have been dating since high school! I am confused.
I thought it was a joke! I laughed and said “Just call me Demi Moore” but still..that was kind of a weak joke.

Eh people joke like that all the time. I am just 4 months older than my FI and he likes to call me a cougar all the time. Except not anymore bc I actually really hate it and told him to stop lol. I don’t know why it bothers me but it does. Generally for that 4 month period when I’m a year older than him if someone asks how old he is I just say “my age”. 🙂

haha, I got the same kind of jokes (but idk if the word “cougar” was popular then) in hs when my bf was 6 months younger! People think they’re soooo clever…just chuckle and let them feel funny!

Haha, I’m ONE day older than my man. So on that one day I hear all the jokes about being a cougar, ‘the older woman’, asked if I need my cane, etc etc. It’s funny and doesnt bother me at all. I take the opportunity to joke back. 🙂

I”m 14 months older than my husband and I call myself a cougar (at 27) all the time. I think it’s funny!

ME TOO! I am 4 months older than FI and we make jokes like that all the time. I think it’s hilarious. It’s funny cause most of the girls that FI liked or dated before me were all older than him too, so I tease him that he likes cougars. 🙂

joke, I’m sure! one of my friends is dating a guy 4 years younger (she is 29) and jokingly calls herself a cougar

Four weeks to the day, and I hear it all the time, too. “Cougars” are so trendy right now, I think people like throwing the term around. I wouldn’t take it too personally.

I had people make comments to us all the time about robbing the craddle because i am 8 years younger than my husband! People that i just meet say it too! I don’t understand why they think they have a right to make jokes like that especially when i was introduced to them 5 seconds before! I also had people telling me the week before the wedding and at the rehearsal that I still have time to back out! I was like no thanks, im actually enjoying myself and very excited- thanks for the option though!!! Maybe i am being a little uptight but it really rubbed me the wrong way.

I think people will always make an issue out of age. Its just whatever is “hip” at the moment and right now, “cougar” is the hip term. My mom is 5 days older than my dad and get it, she doesnt really understand it so she just blows it off
My FI is 5 years older than me and is a middle school teacher and I dont know how many times i have heard “oooh was he your teacher?” haha very funny, Im 24 he is 29. That makes no sense. K, thanks. BYe!!!!!!

Totally a joke. A real “cougar” dates someone like 15 years younger.
