    Some of you may have been following my SIL home birth drama on the other thread. Anyway she went into labor Wed night, finally went to the hospital Sat morning after it became apparent her home birth wasn't gonna work out. At 1:15 am 6-19 my nephew finally arrived! 10 lb 2 oz 22 inches by c-section. I kept saying that baby was too big! They actually let her push fron 8 pm to 12 am with no progress. Poor girl has been though so much. But the baby is healthy and what an awesome Father's Day present for my brother!

    Awww geez...that baby would have never come out naturally, lol.  So glad to hear everyone's okay.  I was worried about how it would end.  Congrats!

    @amnystik: According to the CDC (note: it's in kg, not lbs), >95% of male babies born in the US are <10lbs.  That's not to say that some women aren't able to have a vaginal birth with that size baby, but this little guy is certainly on the bigger size!

    OP: Have you been able to see him yet?

    @EvaBostonTerrier:

    Yes I actually just got home from the hospital a little while ago. They didn't have many clothes that weren't newborn size since they were keeping the sex a surprise. Auntie to the rescue! I bought him so many cute outfits, went a little crazy. Lol. He's a very big healthy chubby baby. Poor guy has a lot of bruising on his head from all the trauma during labor. SIL seems to be doing well, my brother is over the moon. Kid is still nameless though :(

    @EvaBostonTerrier: thank you for the statistic.  Also, I would guess that this being her first baby impacted her ability to vaginally delivery a child of this size.  Now, if we were talking third or fourth baby, perhaps she could have done it.

    @nona49:

    The baby was also partially face up and I've heard that's a common reason for c section as well. SIL's mother has the exact same build as her and had 3 babies over 9 lb, c section with each. I feel like ultrasounds would've benefited them greatly, but hey to each their own. I'm just glad everyone made it through ok.
