- Wedding: June 2011
I’m very modern/contemporary in some ways, but very traditional in others. My wedding will probably be very traditional. I’m having the wedding in a courtyard of a hotel that has this huge staircase that I’ll be coming down (train is a must). I’ve tried on about 35 dresses. Dress #5 (4K winnie couture discontinued and on sale for 1k) was not what I was looking for…it was very traditional and simple…I also noticed the quality of beading and satin.,,so elegant. I loved the way it looked, but that’s not what I’ve been picking out online or imagining.
I know I want sweetheart A-line/ballgown and not fitted below mid-hip. I keep picking out the very modern dresses with the ruching and embellishments either under the bust or down the torso (the ones that are EVERYWHERE now). I try the dresses on and I’m like wow! They are so beautiful! but…no…not it. I keep comparing every dress to the traditional dress (which they don’t have much in common with). I keep coming back to the traditional dress! I think my indecision comes from my conflicting traditional and contemporary senses.
The question is: I keep coming back to the same dress, does that mean it’s the one? Or the fact that I haven’t been like “AHA, THIS IS THE DRESS, I WILL TRY ON NO OTHERS” mean that I haven’t found it? This gown is one-of-a-kind and will be gone once it is purchased. I told the store I would make my decision by next Tuesday. Freaking out!!!
Also, the dress has a sash that goes around the waist and then continues the length of the train. I will def. remove the long part of the sash. I’m not sure if I will remove the sash off the front of the dress (or change the size, I’ve already doubled it over so that it is halved it in the pic). It may look too plain without it. I’m also not sure if the sash is not flattering. I don’t want to look stumpy and I want to show off my torso. I’m not sure if this sash/dress is flattering essentially, and need opinions.
Please give me ideas!
