MrsToBeeMgn:  Congratulations on your soon-to-be engagment!  I’m in the EXACT same boat.  We’ve picked a weekend-date (we’re one year away today!), a venue, food, colors, bridal party, STDs, etc.  I feel like I have almost everything planned expect the DIY decorations!

I hope your engagement comes lightning fast!

imhisoneandonly:  If they know they want to get married, and they are communicating about the wedding without the ring, why wouldn’t it be okay to plan?  Aren’t they technically engaged to be married, for all intents and purposes?  If BOTH of them want to get married in 8 months, don’t you think this is the smart thing to do?

MrsToBeeMgn:  I made a thread about this a few weeks ago because my SO and I just listed off the guest list one day, so I figured I would write it all down just to see how many people we had.  I felt a bit off planning while waiting, but it’s fairly common.  It’s amazing how many Bees do it or understand it. Hey, if you two want to get married, what’s stopping you from putting the vision together?  What’s a ring anyways but just a symbol?

OP, I remember when I was in the same boat as you! FI and I discussed the vendors we wanted, colors, etc. but were not officially engaged for a few months afterwards because the ring wasn’t purchased yet and he wanted to ask my dad for his blessing before anouncing our engagement to the family. Congrats!

damarajade:  MrsToBeeMgn:  I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with it I have never personally heard of it.  I just started on here a few months ago and never seen anyone say that. But I’m not a frequent bee so to say. I just find it odd but like I said don’t see anything wrong with it; everyone does their own thing and if that’s your guys good for you

imhisoneandonly:  Thank you!  I definitely don’t recommend it for waiting bees that are not in clean communication with their SO about their wedding.  But my SO always comes up with ideas, so we start bouncing them off one another… then it turned into planning!  This only started a couple months ago… after knowing for a few months that the ring would be here soonish.  It’s been too long… I just want to book the stupid venue.  lol

MrsToBeeMgn: I’ve looked up some photographers, but our budget is pretty small… so we want to see if the Best Man (who is a photographer himself) has a friend that he can bring with to shoot our wedding, just to keep things a bit cheaper.  Otherwise, I found someone for fairly cheap that we can book for 3 hours on a Friday that is usually expensive on the weekends.

I already told my sister we can go dress shopping when she visits in December 😉  My date is still a bit further out than yours, so my details aren’t that set.  I’m trying to shut-up the wedding talk now that the proposal is around the corner 😉
