Hi Everyone!! I am back around these parts! Our wedding has been pushed back a few months due to a few financial issues (hate the economy lol)... We have also moved it to my hometown of Memphis, TN due to my dad's cancer coming out of remission :(.... Everything else is pretty much the same except I have started school for Hospitality, Travel and Tourism on line and love it!!!
@crebre80: WELCOME BACK WE MISSED YOU!!!!!!!!!! my prayers are with you, your father, and your family... i hope the wedding planning is coming along during this time...

I am sorry about everything going on in your life, but some of it looks good.
I hope your dad's cancer goes back into remission. I know from experience how hard it can be for him, you, and the rest of the family.
@missjyc: the wedding planning sort of stopped due to a personal loss I experienced in May as well. How was your wedding, your sig is gorgeous!!!!! I am sort of getting my feet wet again and most of my family is thrilled that I decided to move the wedding home.

@noritake: thanks very much. I toyed around with moving the wedding up to october or november, but we just can't afford it. the cancer has spread and i am hoping i am not being an idiot by pushing it back a few months... when i speak with the venue, if i need to move it up, i am hoping they won't want an additional deposit or anything like that. most of the time venues are okay with moving it up a bit...

i'm so sorry that you had so many hard times come up, but i pray that it all turns around for your wedding! and i am excited for you that you will be at home and near your loved ones! keep us updated!!

@ottawa: thanks!! we are thinking about march 5th or 12th. i have a wedding in november, and a large one at the end of january, and a smaller one in february and i honestly didn't want to have another event that close to my own wedding due to me focussing all on that wedding and none on my own lol..
I'm sorry to hear about your dad and the wedding being pushed back... but I really am glad to see you back here! We've all missed you.
@crebre80: Welcome back!! I have been hanging around the 'bee waiting on your wedding....LOL. In the meantime I planned my sister's wedding (sept 18th) and am just now getting to the point where FI and I can decide what we want to do about our disrupted wedding plans. I pray that your father makes a full recovery and that your wedding goes off without a hitch.

@ja: how did her wedding go?! thanks so much about the prayers for my dad, but from my ex step mom, things aren't looking too good, but daddy says he'll be just fine, so i believe him. If i see that he won't be okay, I will move the wedding up and to hell with everything else we'll just have cake and champagne and feather centerpieces lol!

@missjyc: yeah when i got the stalker it seriously put a bad taste in my mouth and the fact that i couldn't remember my danged password further complicated things lol!!!! but i have definitely missed it around these parts...
@crebre80: It went great. She was a beautiful bride. I promptly got sick when I got home on Sunday...probably b/c I was running around like a chicken with the head cut off. One thing it brought home to me...I DO NOT want a traditional ceremony. Just me, FI, and the kids...and maybe our parents. He lost his mom in Feb so it's important to him that his dad be involved in our ceremony in some way.
If you need to move your wedding up...do it. Cake, champagne, and feather centerpieces sound good to me. I am sure your family will rally around you to make it an event to remember.

Welcome back! So great to see you on the boards again. I'm sorry about your loss and the news about your dad but excited for all the other things happening in your life too.

you must have known we were all talking about how much we missed you and hoped you'd come back! glad to see you again. so sorry to hear about your dad but hopefully he'll beat this round too

update on my family: my dad has been keeping a terrible secret since april. In april his doctors told him he had a year and a half to live. we are all just finding out now. his cancer has progressed to a stage four and my dad is in extreme denial. i am not sure of anything anymore with the wedding or anything else to be honest with you. i am going home next week because this morning i was bombarded with calls stating that someone needed to help with my dad and that he may need a hospice nurse or to go into a nursing home. he is in the hospital for the second time this week because he has had severe nosebleeds and cannot eat. if anyone has any experience at all with this please let me know what i need to do to get him a nurse to visit him during the day and make sure he's okay.
I'm glad you're back, but I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Have you talked to anyone at a hospice facility or nursing home, to ask about the steps to getting an at-home nurse? When might be exactly what your dad needs.
And not to detract from your dad's situation, but what online course are you taking? It sounds really interesting.
(If you need to talk, my mom died of pancreatic cancer a few years back. It's a brutal thing to go through, on both the patient and caregiver sides.)

I am going to school for hospitality tourism and travel... it is a piggy back on my current event design and planning business. eventually i would like to go into event coordination for a hotel or convention center... unfortunately i am five hours away from home...
Welcome back! I can't tell you the number of threads in which you were mentioned and missed! I'll be sending good thoughts to your family!
Oh no, I am so sorry for what your dad is going through. I don't know what advice to give about hospice or nurses. :( I hope your father suffers very little and is surrounded by love.
