At this point in time engagement is actually a rather touchy subject between me and my guy and I NEED to stop bringing it up. We have fought about it enough to where it's put a bit of a damper on the whole thing. Not a big deal, I just need to do better from now on and his excitement will build back up. (mine though, that's another post some other day)

BUT!!!! I found this ring! And it is the first time I have ever seen a ring (in my year of reasearch) and thought.... "OMG I want that."

I mean, I love pretty rings in general and I'm pretty easy to please. Halo? Sure! Solitaire? Sounds good! Plain band? Ok that's cool. Pave band? Great!

    I'm just not picky.

Take a look at this moissanite ring!

At first I was l thought, "Oh wow that is a really really wonderful chunk of rock! Pretty!

    http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/4561/sany0042k.jpg

THEN! I look at the james allen website where the setting came from and I was able to see the setting better. I swooned. I swear I have never had a reaction to a ring before.

Oh I'm just itching to show him, but, I recently had a meltdown and my nonsense has to stop so I'm not allowing myself to say anything.

Hopefully some bee appreciation for this beauty will satisfy my need to make a big deal about this ring.

    *sigh*

It's gorgeous! How about being totally quiet and not bringing up engagement for 2-3 months and then (after that time) leave a picture of it lying around with a short, funny note?

@jackndiane: That is an excellent idea! I could just email myself the link. I tend to leave notes for him in weird places for fun, like inside the cap of his shaving cream container and I could just leave this somewhere with a sweet note in the future.

    You, are a genius!

It's beautimus! Personally I'm not a solitaire fan, but that ring is truly gorgeous. I found a ring I really loved because it was so different, but I didn't say anything to R about it, but I think that was best.

I'm biting my tongue SO hard right now!! This ring!! : wedding moissanite ring james allen beautiful waiting Citrine Beauty

But I still like to look at it! ;)
We can admire beautiful rings together...really, I don't mind! :D
I know it's hard not to mention something so beautiful, but remember what you told me: "Each day you bring it up, the more you push it back, but the more you don't bring it up, the closer it will get!"

I think I will take one too. That is a stunning ring! :D

Definitely keep the link handy for a time when it's not so stressful. And just keep looking at it in the meantime.

    @Torrid:

Oh wow that ring is... amazing! I really wonder what ring your guy got for you and if it's similar at all. It's going to be something beautiful I'm sure. It's funny how the DAY after I give you that advice I find myself wanting to blurt! lol Isnt that the way it works though? But yes, you are right. Time to practice what I preach.  :)

Oh wow that really is stunning! I love the double-claw prongs and the hidden diamond! Since it's not on sale or anything with a time pressure I would just wait until you feel it's a better time to bring it up.

The first time I showed my SO my dream ring was a complete accident... I had it on my desktop and accidentely opened it!! (Honest!!) But he reacted well and asked me to tell him more about it (after laughing so hard at my embarrased reaction...).

@MrsT2b: *nods* I hate going by "feelings" though. Watch, I'm going to not bring up rings or engagement or anything and by the time I do he will have already picked out a different one. lol Which I will love I'm sure, this is just the first and only setting I've ever actually gasped a little.

@minie77: It really is! It's a little more than he wants to spend.... I think.. Honestly, I don't even know what his budget is/will be. I do know that he was excited that moissanite was so inexpensive. I know if he really wanted to he could afford this ring even though it's a little more. I mean, I give him $1,000 every three months for rent and utilities even though he doesn't need it to pay his bills. Essentially he gets an extra grand every 3 months to pocket.

@Tunacupcakes: it's soooo pretty! I love the setting. It's so unique, but simple at the same time. Gorgeous! I'd leave the paper sitting on the table or something so it seems like "an accident". But then again, I'm the passive aggressive type. haha.

@Tunacupcakes: Don't beat yourself up over it. :) It's hard being in this kind of situation! The rings are beautiful, and I know he'll get you something beautiful too!

ooh, i like that setting a lot! and I am beyond picky with my solitaire settings! just keep it saved in your favorites, and on a day when you're both nice and calm just nonchalantly show him. no pressure...

maybe you could show it to a friend and then that way if he ever asks for help, she will know what you like! Good luck and it is so pretty!

@FutureMrsMcDermott: Something that looks like an accident you say? Like...... "Oh honey, I have NO idea how that ring became your desktop background!! But...now that you mention it that ring is STUNNING!!! Oh it's perfect."  ;)  subtle much?

@sleepingbeauty88: Yes nonchalant. Perfect. Must....resist...the urge to explode on him when the time comes about how it's the most perfect ring ever and if I don't have it I'll die. lol

@peaches1038: In all seriousness that might be a good idea with the right person. I know if I tell his best friend this guy, P, will go up to John and say something like "Hey, so your wifey wants a ring. This one....she showed it to me. Man, I thought you already gave her a ring. No?" (Imagine a Zimbabwean accent)

We have another friend I could probably show....maybe say something like "So... J is going to be proposing someday soon. I found this ring I really really want. If he ever mentions something to you.....could you show him this for me?"

It is a beautiful ring...if you ever use the same computer you should just leave the page open one day!

Ohhh that is so pretty! Just bide your time... an opportunity will open up sometime for you to mention the ring to him. I thought mine wanted to know absolutely nothing about future engagement rings but yesterday we were out shopping and looking in a jewellers window and he said "hey, where are the pears?" I nearly DIED inside because I didn't think he had taken any notice of what I had said.

Just wait for the moment where he is happy to chat weddings and slip it in :)

@MademoiselleL: That's a good idea, except that I have showed him countless rings just for fun. He wants to have a serious gem collection someday and thinks shinies are fun to look at. So there have been plenty of times there has been a page open to a ring just because I thought it was interesting in some way. It wouldn't indicate that I want one.

@CupcakeLove: *nods* I'm hoping he brings it up some time. Then I may bashfully say something like "Honey, I wanted to show you something. I don't know what it is, but this ring takes my breath away.

Ak! My time will come. lol

@Tunacupcakes: haha totally subtle. :) Or slipping a picture of it in his wallet. lol. I actually e-mailed my guy the rings I liked. Yea, tactful, I know. :)
