Thanks for your messages :) my excitement has been overshadowed a little as the house we put an offer on was gazumped: someone else has seen it under offer and offered £6.5k ($9k) more than what we had. So back to the drawing board.
Congrats about the engagement. Sorry to hear about the house, hopefully an even better one comes along!!

I got engaged on Saturday night! It finally happened!
He has said all along that he wants to surprise me, and with me wondering if it was happening every time I saw him, he found this a bit tricky. For those of you who don't know we're LDR but are lucky enough to see each other once a week. Last weekend we found a house that was the one. Thursday we had our offer accepted. All the while he's planning on proposing.
It was my turn to go to his at the weekend this weekend. He told me that he didn't want to put me in an awkward situation there, as he is yet to tell his mum that he's put an offer in on a house (she thinks we're still looking). As he lives by the sea I suggested I came anyway but we played tourist and stayed in a hotel. No no, he wanted to meet halfway in Chester. Chester is an old roman city with a A LOT of jewellers in it. So I started joking about if we were going to look at rings, and if we were buying one. He said yes, he would buy me one if we saw a nice one.
Now we've been together almost 4 yrs, it's been a long time coming, and for some reason I just didn't quite believe it would be happening. To the point where I didn't pack anything pretty to wear (it didn't matter as we went for a pub meal). As we left the pub, I said to him "it's starting to sink in now that you've bought me here to actually look", he replied "oh good. In that case, will you marry me?" I said "yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay" so high pitched he barely heard it! I pinched myself so hard as we walked back to the hotel i hurt myself!
He didn't get on one knee, he doesn't have a ring as he wants to choose it with me (despite me showing him everything I like). No pictures of the proposal. However, he surprised me, and it was just us two and that was all I needed :) Thank you for your support ladies, it has been much appreciated on many a frustrated day!
