He finally did it!

I'm so excited and get giddy every time I catch a glimpse of my ring!  Here's the story:

I had gone home for Christmas and didn't come back to my apartment until Wednesday, Jan. 30th.  Home is 2 hours south of St. Louis, so FI (!!!) and I didn't spend the holidays together.  He had to work until 9 on the day I got back, so I took my time unpacking and showering before he came over.

He got there and everything was normal and in the back of my mind I had been wondering if he would propose the next night at midnight or something on NYE (I kind of hoped he wouldn't, but would have loved it just as much).  I got him an XBox 360 for Christmas and we were messing around with it trying out different games.

We were getting ready for bed and I got up to go to the bathroom and when I came back into bed, I told FI that the XBox was like his engagement ring, he was just as excited about it as I would be about the ring.  Then was the conversation:

Me: Your XBox is like your engagement ring, now if only I had mine (lame laughing so it would seem like I was joking)

FI: ..well do you want yours?

Me: uhhhh...of course I do.

FI: Well you have to say you'll marry me first.

Me: You have to ask me to marry you first!

FI: Jb30, will you marry me?

Me: (in a mocking and over the top swooning voice because I thought he was joking) Of COURSE I'll marry you!

Then he reaches behind him and is messing with the curtain.

Me: HAHA What are you going to pull something out from behind a curtain?!

Then he pulls out the box and the first thing I say is, "shut up."  I never knew how I would react when he asked, but I definitely didn't think I would say that.  He opens the box and asks me again and I jump up off the bed freaking out and he puts the ring on my finger.

The part all of my friends and family love and makes the proposal so "us" is after about 5 minutes I get sad because I realized he hadn't gotten down on one knee and I looked ridiculous because I had let my hair air dry and was in my PJs.  So he asks if I want him to do it on his knee and of course I say yes.  So he actually asked me a total of 3 times haha. 

But it was absolutely PERFECT!  He knew if he did something like take me out for dinner somewhere special or on a walk I would have figured it out way before it happened.  I picked out the ring and knew around when it was supposed to be ready and was still completely surprised.  It was extra sweet because he propsed around 2 am on 12/31/09 and the 31st was also his parents' 30th wedding anniversary.

Here are a couple pictures, the center stone is an ice blue sapphire and I've noticed it changes to different shades of blue in certain light and when I wear different things.  I LOVE it!

ok I think I have the pictures up there now.  The first one is the ring tied up in the curtain he pulled it out of.  Corny, but it had to be done.

p.s. sorry the story is so long...I just realized it, you can't tell I'm excited at all!
