- Wedding: December 2017
My man proposed last night during my family’s annual fireworks show 🙂 Every year my Dad buys a truckload of fireworks and my boyfriend assists him in putting on a show for the lake. I asked him yesterday if he would be sitting with me this year since my nephew is now old enough to assist. He said maybe (which means no) so I figured the proposal definitely wasn’t coming this weekend since today is his birthday and I knew he wouldn’t want to share the event. After waiting for so long and knowing he has the ring, it was surprisingly okay with me. We had a wonderful day with my family and nothing was going to spoil it.
I watched the show from a swing set with my grandma where we sat and discussed how cute my boy is, although she thinks he needs a bigger tush 😉 Midway through the show, one of the fire works misfired and went into our neighbors yard where they were all sitting and watching! No one got hurt, but I guess they figured it would be a good time to take a break. My dad announced an intermission, first one in the history of the fireworks extravaganza, and I see both of them make a beeline for me with a digital camera. Mr. Tata’s came rushing up to me but I was still swinging at the time so I fear I may have knocked the wind out of him. He kept asking me if I was going to be nice to him (after he got his breath back) and I wholehearted kept agreeing to be nice and answering him YES with enthusiasm. He got down on knee and asked me to marry him. I think in between kissing him all over his face I managed to answer MMHMMM. Meanwhile, my family is crowding around (three sisters, one brother in law present, two nieces, four nephews, my parents and grandma) and my mom is saying “What happened, did he get something in his eyes? We have to go flush it out!!” And my nephew is yelling “Did she say yes, did she say yes?” My FI stood up to hug me and my 41 year old sister jumped on his back because she was so excited. All of my sisters, my mom and my grandma were crying and then immediately started planning the wedding. It really couldn’t have been more awkwardly perfect. 🙂
I was SUPER nervous about how this weekend would go since my oldest sister recently separated from her husband. It was a much needed change and she is doing great but you never know how people will react. Luckily we come from an amazingly supportive family structure and it seems like we spent the weekend celebrating her new life rather than mourning her loss. (My sisters and mom had a cheer of “We are women, hear us ROOOAAARRR all weekend haha). I’m actually extremely glad he went through with the proposal; both of my nieces were feeling a little down about their dad not being at the lake but afterwards they were so SO excited. They kept asking if they were going to be be able to get dresses at my store for the wedding (I work at a formal wear store).
I hope everyone else is having a fabulous and SAFE holiday weekend :):):)
