- Wedding: November 2013
Sorry for the delay ladies, but it’s been a whirlwind of a week. It turns out that the day my now-fiance took me to the park was my day, and he did take me there to ask me to marry him!!! That was Friday, May 24. He had asked me the night before if I wanted to go to the park to take some pictures of ourselves because we didn’t have very recent ones of both of us looking nice. I thought that was strange because my fiance does not like taking pictures, but I love the park and would never pass up a chance to go there. So, I said, “Sure I’d love to go to the park” and put a fresh coat of polish on my nails. I was suspicious 😉 but I was happy to go to the park anyway, so I wasn’t too nervous…
until he got to my house to pick me up the next day and was all nervous. So we walked around the park and talked about good memories, significant milestones and funny thoughts about how far we’ve come, with him directing the conversation. Then we went to “our” bench and sat down and talked some more, and then he launched into his speech about how important I am to him, how we work well together, and how he wants us to be partners for life, plus many other lovely things. Sitting on the bench, he said, “So I have something to ask you…” and started fiddling with his coat pocket. He says I was just staring at him, smiling and looking amused and slightly confused. He went to one knee, opened a ring box, and asked if I would marry him!! We were both wearing sunglasses, and I wanted eye contact with him, so I pulled off his sunglasses and my sunglasses so I could see his eyes, then said yes!! He said something to the effect of “good” and put the ring on my finger!!!
So I am engaged!
Ring is a Blue Nile petite band with sapphires and diamonds around it and then a round diamond set in the center. He knows how I feel about blood diamonds so he made sure it was conflict free.
I am so happy to be engaged to him!! I was in shock for a few days and kept looking at my ring and at him like, “wow, I’m getting married!”
I’ll post a picture as soon as I figure out how!!
So happy bees! It is worth the wait! Trust your SO and love him, dream with him, and don’t be shy to tell him you’d be thrilled to be with him for life. He needs to hear it as much as we want to be asked!
