@Laurenskii:  It wasn’t bad for me at all. They give you a shot to numb your arm, which is the only thing that hurts (and it’s over in less than 5 seconds). You won’t even feel them inserting the nexplanon. You will probably have a pretty nasty bruise for a week or so after, and that’s totally normal, so don’t worry about that. It will also be sore for a few days, but after the first week, it’ll be almost unnoticeable- unless you feel your arm for it.

It may make you bleed constantly, though. If it does this, see if your gyno will prescribe a ‘mini-pill’ to straighten you out. That’s what I did, and I’ve been AF-free for about 3 months now. 🙂 ETA: The mini-pill was just a 7-day thing, I don’t have to take it every day anymore.

@Laurenskii:  nexplanon? Is that like implanon because I have that lol. The worst part was the next few days, the bruising. I forgot to wear a jacket to work and my co worker was lIke omgggg WTF happened?! I’ve been AF free for a year now 🙂

@Girasole:  Nexplanon is the same thing as implanon, but nexplanon has barium sulphate so it can be detected by CT scan/Xray. Nexplanon also comes with an insertion device already prepared.

@Laurenskii:  Ugh, yeah, I did the same thing and psyched myself out. In reality, it was a breeze. Good luck!!
