Awe I am sooooo sorry!
I would be devastated too!
It's too bad they are so darn cute and we love them unconditionally, eh?
It's why they're cute... a survival mechanism, for sure! Sorry about your thank you notes!
Awwwwww!! That stinks!!! At least once a week I have to tell my dog it's a good thing he's cute...especially this week when I was informed he wasn't welcome back at doggie day care until he gets fixed because he's being aggressive towards other dogs :(
I hope that you can find a way to send out the invitations you originally wanted!!
Becca, that sucks about your dog! When is he getting fixed? Will they let him back in automatically?
I guess that helps tone them down sometimes, but with Oliver (the brat in the pic) it did nothing. Seriously, we picked him up from the vet, and he was jumping on us, barking, and running around. Didn't he KNOW he just lost something?!?
Holy cow! My dogs are a bit older now so they destroy less, but I would FLIP OUT if I found all that destruction! I'd have the crates down out of the attic so fast...
Having a new dog in the house (even temporarily) causes all kinds of trouble. We've been watching a third dog (yes, 3rd) for a while now and he just mixes up everyone's routine. He's a good dog and thank God not destructive.
Get yourself to TJMaxx and buy some simple replacement thank yous. Sucks big time, but it could be the week before the wedding with this stuff going on! You have time to replace them.
(And your pup is ADORABLE!)
For the first 2 years of his life one of my parents' dogs wouldn't go in the basement. Then he started to think if might be ok when my parents had to sleep in the basement for a while when their room was being remodeled.
This lasted for about 2 weeks when I was home on christmas break, and then he peed on my wedding dress! Thank god it was in the zippered plastic bag and we found it quickly. Apparently, he does not go into the basement anymore! I guess my freakout scared him a little bit.
He still loves me though :)
we were just looking at puppy pictures of my dog- I got her for valentine's a few years ago, boy is she a holy terror!! I totally feel for you, my dog has eaten more shoes- and other things I've loved than I can even list or remember, and it always sucks!!! But, I still love her.
I had a "puppy" that my parents were fostering that not only ate 4 pairs of my favorite shoes, but also ate an antique chair and at least one cell phone at our house. When he was adopted he tore open a small car too. Just be happy that you don'thave great danes lol
I would be furious! We lock our dog in the kitchen when we leave to minimize the destruction. I'm so sorry!
But what a cute pic!! My dog is not destructive like that, but my CAT is!
oh, i'm so sorry to hear!!! but i had to laugh (alittle) because that pup is so incredibly cute. i'm sure he is sorry. :)
You might try crate and clicker training...not that you need more to do while wedding planning (lol). That's a very cute puppy!
I'm so sorry!! I've been in your shoes before! My pup, Luke, ate my senior year book! And that's something that I can never get back. I cried crazy tears over that. It'll get better, I promise! Luke is just now a little over a year old and he's finally starting to get out of his puppy phase :]
Good luck!
I am soo sorry about this...I can definately related....our pups can be quite mischevious at times....just last night Molly chewed my shoe to oblivion among endless other things
I'm so sorry! DG is right, dogs are "puppy cute" just long enough to keep you from killing them early in life!! I wish I had advice to help you get over it, but I know that when my puppy decided to eat my pillow, and every souvenir on the lower shelf from my many travels, and my stuffed lobster (long story), and a ton of other stuff (in only two hours...sigh) I was PISSED. I couldn't look at him. He was put in his kennel for the night so that I wouldn't throw him off the balcony. Eventually I got over it and now I laugh about it, but we still have to kennel him up when we leave because he has moved on to more expensive chew toys (like playstation remotes, cell phones, ear pieces, tv remotes, etc). So sorry about your thank you cards! Hopefully you can order more!
That sucks. :(
But our dogs are our children... and we love them unconditionally... even when they eat things that they are not supposed to.
Voila my two babies!

So we got home from work today to find our whole house in disarray. Our two dogs had a friend over today (a friend's dog), and things got rowdy.
First we find bridal magazine bits all over the backyard. Okay, it's messy, but we can clean, and I honestly am not a fan of the magazines anyhow.
Then we saw that they ate my kumquat tree - only a knawed-on trunk was left, pitifully sticking out the pot! I have to admit I teared up a bit at that one (I love my plants like I love my pups).
THEN. Then. I found the dogs had retreated into the guest room, which is usually locked against them. So I wandered in, and found that they had eaten almost ALL of our thank you cards! I'd ordered them from shutterfly with one of our e-pics on it, and loved them! And now they're in slobbery shreds in our trashcan.
I lost it, I'll admit. Not my proudest moment, but I cried over the remnants. Life goes on, but I'm disappointed tonight. Just look at this guy. THAT innocent face destroyed my peaceful evening. He's lucky he's cute.
