I think it's really beautiful the way it is! I would love to go to a wedding there, the setting is gorgeous!!!
I was thinking of asking the owners if i could switch the octoberfest pictures out for framed photos of me and my fiance (i guess he'll be my husband then!) - is that tacky to ask??
I don't think it looks cheesy, at all! When you said oktoberfest pics, I guess I was imagining neon bar signs or something really tacky. Those are matted and framed prints hanging on the wall, totally nondescript and won't take away from your event or even be noticed by anyone. Your venue is beautiful, don't stress it! :)
thanks, it makes me feel better that other people like it. i should just remember how we felt when we found it (we loved it) and stop worrying what other people will think. i feel like all the time i spend looking at wedding blogs has given me unrealistic expectations :) but really - tacky to ask to replace the pictures for our day?
It's lovely as it is, but if you wanted to put up pictures of both of you -- or old family pictures -- I think it would be a sweet touch.
Gosh, I think it's gorgeous!! Sonoma Co. was where we were originally planning on doing our wedding. We were up tasting in Healdsburg and Guerneville last weekend and I was having serious jealousy pangs for anyone getting married there.... My advice? You had good reasons for selecting your venue, embrace it, go with it, do what you can to make it yours, don't look back.
I have 2nd thoughts sometimes about my site, but likewise, I had excellent reasons for selecting it, and in the end it's not perfect, but it's what I want.
oh - i love the old family photo idea - cute! thank you so much, i am certainly beginning to feel better :)
Nice venue! switch out the pics and this will be fine! You can add lighting if you want to the inside or outside.
It looks very charming. Barely noticed the Ocktoberfest picture, but I would def ask to switch out pic of you and your fiance. That would be quite a personal touch, and I bet they wil be quite accommodating.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
I booked my venue about 6 months ago. My wedding isn't until August, but I am pretty sure its too late to change locations (i.e. save the dates have already gone out...) We chose it because it isn't "wedding-y" (which is what my fiance requires) and because we really like all the outdoor activities that our guests can do over the weekend. I also really love the deck.
What I don't like is that it feel a little cheesy... for example, there are octoberfest pictures on the walls. I also don't think i can do any custom lighting to set the ambiance.
Any suggestions about ways I can make it better would be SUPER HELPFUL! I really want to be excited about the location because I am so excited to get married and to celebrate.
Thanks!
heres a link to some photos of the venue. also, this is only the reception venue - the ceremony is across the river in a beautiful field.
