Last night I bought a wedding dress from JCPenney.

I should note here that I have not gone dress shopping at all, so I haven't tried on a single wedding dress.

    http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=50434&CatID=64332&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=16e1f2f&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=50434|50444|64329&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=6&cmVirtualCat=&CmCatId=50434|50444|64329|64332

It was only 99 dollars (well 109 dollars after taxes) and I got free shipping with a code you can find online.  JCPenney has a really great return policy just in case it doesn't fits.

If it fits, I'm going to jazz it up with a little lace.  I don't want to go sleeveless for my wedding so I'm going to add wide lace straps.  Also I'm thinking I can add a waist to it.

Anyways I told a my BMs this one was sad that she couldn't go dress shopping with me and another thought it was a great idea.

I told my co-workers and most of them thought I was crazy.  Like should dress shopping be the one of the most exciting things you do for your wedding and you skipped that by buying it online, you don't know even know if it fits (this is why I check the return policy).

I wondered if anyone else has done something similar.

I thought it will turn out great and it will save major money and I'll have a one of kind of dress (after I jazz it up)... but now I'm having second thoughts.

I have a friend who did this! She ordered her wedding dress online without ever having tried one on - if trying on dresses isn't important to you, then who cares? And like you said, if you don't love it, you can return it! No harm done!

I think that its a wonderful looking dress. I am planning on going all over the place and trying on different dresses to see what suits me, write down the designers name and information and then if I can find it cheaper online, purchasing it (like you based on the return policy)

    I say go for it!

I LOVE this dress!! I actually started to buy it but I wanted something with a little train. I don't know about adding a waist though....I can't picture that.

I don't think there's any reason for second thoughts!  Like amanda.lynn said, you can just return it if it's not what you like.  I think it's really pretty!  Let us know how it works out :)

For me dress shopping is a very exciting process, I have been looking forward to it since before I was ever engaged. But if you are just not into shopping, then it shouldn't bother you.

I guess you could go shopping just for the fun of it but then you risk falling in love with another dress.

Also, since your dress was so inexpensive it won't be a huge loss if you decide to buy another one you try on.

I really like that dress.  Is your wedding more lowkey, like on a beach or something?  If so, that is a great dress for that kind of wedding.

it's a beautiful dress!! and you could totally jazz it up! if you're not the shopping kind - or dress shopping doesn't appeal to you - don't let everyone else tell you how you're supposed to deal with your own wedding. if you love the dress and LOVE the fact that you spent such a great price...then I say be happy and excited about it! :)

@raindrops: you can add a cathedral or chapel length veil to give you more of the train feeling...

I think the dress is super pretty and elegant...and for that price you can't really go wrong!  Hope you like it when you get it and all the changes you make to it work out.

Not crazy at all! Ordering a $100 dress is not crazy. I was expecting something like "whoops, I accidentally bought a $10,000 Oscar de la Renta" when I opened your post :-)

I don't think you're crazy!  My best friend bought her dress online and didn't really do the whole dress shopping thing.  She was totally happy that she saved herself the drama.

My boss' daughter bought her dress online and it was beautiful - her mom was sad they couldn't go dress-shopping together, but that was the only downside.

It really depends on what you're looking for - if this is the dress that you want, there's nothing wrong with buying it online, and congrats on getting a great deal. And like you said, there's a return policy so you're not out anything if you decide you don't like it when it arrives.

Thanks again everyone for all the supporting replies!  ^_^

I saw my FI last night and told him about it and showed him the dress (yeah we don't really care about the whole bad luck seeing the dress thing) and the thought it was very me and it was a good idea.

Though he does think it's weird that I didn't try on dresses (well if it doesn't fit I might have to anyways).

We had a talk and he knows how I stand where I think it's just one day and let's be frank here, I'm only going to wear this dress for 5 hours max (chinese people change out of their white dress at the beginning of the reception).

He said that's a good way of thinking of it, but he feels most people think of it as not just another day or just one day, but the ONLY SHOT TO GET IT RIGHT.  I never thought of that way before.  Haha.  ^_^

BTW one of my co-worker's daughters are getting married next year and her dress cost 3700 without alterations... yikes!
