I would say you should move on and not look back.  Anyone who won’t give you references before you sign a contract is not worth working with.

The point of references kind of goes out the window when you don’t get them until after you’ve agreed to work with someone.  It makes no sense.  I would be very hesitant about hiring her.  I found my coordinator who works for herself and charges a very reasonable fee, but she was able to give me two brides as references that gave me great reviews on her.  If it were me, I would insist on seeing the references before you sign a contract.

Uhm….this kind of defeats the purpose of having references to being with. I would snoop into this a little more…maybe the people she referenced didn’t okay with her to be called or whatever. It’s a little fishy sounding.

Sketch. I’d start shopping around for a different DOC.

I’d find someone else.

I’d just tell her you can’t sign the contract until you’ve talked to her references. Even if they’re just friends or family members at the very least you can get someone else’s perspective.

If you don’t get them till the day of – they could be completely fake and maybe she doesn’t have any experience.

The whole point of having references is so you can call them before you sign the contract to determine if you want to sign the contract.

I’ll keep looking.
