Including flowers, lighting, table cloths, chair covers, everything? I am extremely curious to know what the majority of bees are spending. I have NO idea about my budget yet!
We're not doing chair covers. . table cloths are provided by the hall.
The only thing we bought were pillar candle holders for each table and it came to about $400.00.
Lighting provided by hall. .. I am DIYing bouquets but there won't be flowers on the tables or anything. The ceremony area is already completely decorated by the hall.
Whoah... $23k and higher just for decorations? I voted the lowest you gave because we're not budgeting more than $500-800 for decorations. If I can't have everything for under that, then I can't have it, period. We're looking at venues that are already very beautiful on their own so not much has to be done by us.
Wow, you expect to spend a lot! haha
My lighting came with my DJ...
My centerpieces were probably around $300, and the rest may have totaled $300.
I'm not totally sure yet, but we've budgeted about 8K. We have 200 people so that's 30 centerpieces and we're doing an Indian ceremony so the ceremony itself will cost a lot to decorate with the mandap and flowers. We're not totally sure yet though - hopefully it will be less! Indian weddings are expensive, and we're on the low end of family and friends. :/
I think I will end up in the $7-10K category.
My flowers alone are almost $5K. Of course the decor and atmosphere is most important to me closely followed by food so I'm really not too surprised.
I'm having my reception in an inn that has been around since the late 1800's... so there's really no decorating I need to do! There's already furniture and decor all over the place, and we have free roam of all the rooms. There's even a really cool old phonebooth upstairs. They also provide the centerpieces and floral arrangements... I pretty much lucked out on this one!
Ah, I forgot about flowers since we're not doing that. I understand how flowers can get into the high-price ranges!
It was hard for me to vote $2-4k because to me that sounds like a lot, but I think my total will be just over $2000. I was lucky to find a venue that included really nice linens, chargers, and chiviari chairs in the rental cost, so I 'splurged' on my flowers and I may get lighting through my DJ at a crazy discounted price. Plus I know I've spent a few hundred on all the random things like tons of votives and little knock knacks for the tables.
I don't know as I am just buying a little at a time and I am not sure I really want to know :(
I voted $2,000 and under. As I know I'm not spending THAT much... To be honest I have been buying a little bit at a time, so I really have no clue!
My venue was pretty unique and didn't require too much in terms of decoration. Still came in around $3K including: Chair rental, upgraded linens, floral centerpieces & ceremony flowers, rented furniture (leather ottomans), and some LED uplights that I should try to resell if I ever get around to it :)
Somewhere between 3 and 4K... I never thought it would be that much but small things add up fast! My venue is totally bare too though (they provide only the tables and chairs).
for the ceremony and reception we probably spent somewhere between $7K-$8K. That includes flowers, chuppah, candles and holders, uplighting, linnens and all the little odds and ends.
That is a lot of money for decorations, it seems! My centerpieces were DIY and the DJ and venue provided lighting and tablecloths.
OMG, your 'low' category is incredibly high!! haha...
in total we are planning to spend $600 for flowers, decor, string lights and paper lanterns.
all of our decor is either being reused from a previous wedding (yay craigslist!), second hand, and being re-purposed as gifts after the wedding. zero waste! :)
Here is my breakdown-
Linens-$300
Chairs- $1,000 (folding for ceremony, chivari for reception)
Flowers-$3,000
Pipe and drape-$1,100 (for ceremony room)
Lighting-$800
Platform and fabric for ceremony-$350
Labor for chair set up, pipe and drape ($1,000)
I still need some misc stuff as well

My wedding will be (hopefully) under 5K, so our breakdown is like this:
Flowers: $350
Decorations: $300
So...around $650?
My venue comes with pretty nice chairs, a lot of natural lighting (it's a daytime wedding), and linens...everything else we will skip.
I'm sorry, I've just read your other posts in the last couple of days and honestly, the fact that 7-10k is in the lower half of your options in this poll makes me really, really angry for your bridemaids. Clearly your wedding budget is enormous--if the ludicrously overpriced BM dresses are so important to you, just sacrifice some of your decorating budget and pay for them yourself. Between the 2400 item registry, the $450 BM dresses, and the Kim K decorations--I really think you need to go for a long walk in the woods and think about things that actually matter, like your friendships and your love for your FI. Elsewhere, you commented that "weddings have so much unnecessary drama, dont they?" Some do, and it really sucks. And some people bring it on themselves. You keep asking the bees if things you're doing are tacky or greedy or selfish or will cause resentment. The fact that you have to ask the question at all should tell you all you need to know.
I am very lucky in that chivari chairs, white linens and small centerpieces are included in the room rental + food. So we are savings lots of money there.
We're making alot of decorations so we're probably spending $500-$800 on decor, guestbook, escort cards etc..
I think we are spending around 1250 on decorations for the ceremony space (including flowers and programs) and another 300-400 (including candles, table numbers, place cards, favors) on our reception space. So under 2000 for sure.
I voted $2000 and below but I don't think we came anywhere near that. Our centrepieces cost us around $400 for 24 tables (includes flowers, vases, votives, candles, and table numbers) and I don't think we really had to pay for any other decorations. We used the linens provided by the hall, didn't do chair covers or lighting, and as we got married outside on a beautiful golf course set on the shores of a lake, we didn't do any ceremony decorations either as the natural beauty far surpassed anything that could have been done. Oh, I guess if you count chair rental for the ceremony, that would be another $200, so we spent maybe $600 total on decorations.
Oops, just realised people are also including favours - I think I spent about $150 on those, so we'll say $750 for decorations.
Including flowers, probably around $800, so way under the minimum choice on the poll haha
@mrssrm: have you ever heard of the slogan, if you don't have anything nice to say...dont say ANYTHING at all?! its true here. i understand your points, i really do. However, instead of being polite and getting your point across, you were very rude and condescending towards me. you actually brought up my other post's exact wording in order to mock me. That is very uncalled for, and I really don't care for you or your opinions any longer. I would appreciate it you just choose to no longer comment on my posts, and I will not comment on your posts as well. We are obviously at 2 different ends of the spectrum, yet I would NEVER bash anyone for spending less or more than I am. Just food for thought, other people made their points, but did so with respect. Please take note, and again, please do not comment on my questions any longer. I honestly have no regard for mean people in my life and you are obviously one of them.
To everyone else: Thank you for the comments, i appreciate the help and ideas! I havent even gotten a price for decor yet so my numbers in the poll might have been a bit high it sounds haha. I was compltely guessing, but hey, if that is true and the majority of you are spending less than 2,000, that is wonderful news for me!!!
reception drapery-chair cover and things being rented 1856.. flowers i dont know now still waiting for florist to email me the balance due sheet... centerpieces/candy bar probably 300dollars ...
church is gonna be decorated very minimaly.. ballroom reception is going be decorated fully...
hope under 3k for everything...
My ENTIRE budget is $2k, and we are doing great. Guest list is 165, and it appears there will be approx 90 to actually show. Have a great little italian place catering dinner. Have great friends that are getting our venue ready and warming the apps for cocktail hour. Picked up a few great cd's at the fair yesterday for during cocktail hour and dinner. Have my ipad and ipod and laptop ready for dance time. And as a back up to the 3 of them I have cd's ready to go.
My centerpieces we are making all the items came from the dollar tree. My table clothes I have purchased, but and the runners also from dollar tree. I made great use of Sam's Club and Costco, as well as Oriental Trading. I am so excited that while in Costco I found my dishes and table wear that I had planned on ordering from Amazon, at a MUCH better price and value. I also was able to find my platters at dollar tree as well as Sams. Not to mention the great candle holders that I picked up for .25 each at IKEA MONTHS ago.
I bought my dress with tags still on it from a Bee back in October for $100, only thing to do to it is have a corset put in which FMIL is doing for me.
When I look back, I want to remember the fun we had, and the fact that we are married. Not worry about where I had to cut because it was getting too expensive.
We have no one helping with the cost of our wedding, FI and I will be doing this on our own. Our honeymoon is booked, yes we have to listen to a 90 minute speel trying to sell us the time share, but I am a travel agent and can get out of there quickly as soon as I tell them that. In the mean time we get 2 nights free of our 6 night trip in Gatlinburg. The other 4 nights we are staying at a great little cabin resort where it is pay for 3 and get one free. So 6 nights for $500 works for me. Oh yea, that is in the $2k as well.
wow what great budgeting!!! That is amazing, and it sounds like it will be truely beautiful! I love hearing about other people's diy projects for weddings, it inspires me to look into some more for myself!
We had a chuppah (wedding canopy) for the ceremony, which we reused to frame the cake table at the reception. And we had 127 paper lanterns, uplighting, candle centerpieces, tablecloths, chair covers, sashes, and various backlit signs and menus. All of it was DIY, and the total cost was well under $2,000.
our venue includes everything , center pieces, table cloths, led lights, coloured napkins, glass vaes, tea light candles, mirror tiles, chandiller, pretty much everything, i got 200 peacock feathers from ebay for $80 and thats about it .
Oh no! I voted wrong (long day). Can you change my vote of 2-4k to 4-7?
My projected breakdown (off the top of my head):
$2,000 on all floral arrangements for the church and reception (1/2 of the tables), lantern centerpieces (the other 1/2), candles, votives, bouquets, and the bouts.
$3,000 for the venue draping, lighting, and ceiling decorations.
$250 for chair covers and sashes (I want chiavari so badly, but decided to use the budget for the draping/lighting).
Cost of labor is included in all the prices, and all table linens come with the venue.
We have $100 budgeted for decor. We are having the ceremony and reception somewhere with gardens and will be using the hotel's vases, linens, lights, chairs, etc. We'll be buying some candles and doing one flower arrangement ourselves, but I'm not sure how much else we'll do.
I would like to know who is spending $23K on decor alone...and show me pictures please!!! :)
@Treejewel19 ha ha i couldnt agree with you more! and i would love to know the overall budget breakdowns from these bees. (aka how they divided out their budgets, 40% for food, 20% for floral, etc)
Wow, my decorations were less than 150. We borrowed tables and chairs from the local school and chair covers were to expensive so because the chairs were blue every thing else had to match them.
Just out of curiousity what is your overall budget, because if you have the money to spend go for it, its totally up to you.
Hmm we spent about £40 total.... we liked how the venue did everything, we just had additional candles. We had lots of compliments!
I put $4,000-$7,000 because after flowers, lighting, lanterns, linen rentai, centerpieces, service charges on all of that, table numbers, and all the other little things I haven't even thought of, I know it's going to be at least $4,000...eeek.
