Everytime I brush my hair out, I’m literally having a lot of strands of hair falling out, always pulling strands of hair off my shirt, my hair brush is full of hair within a week…. what the heck is going on?? I’m not stressed either – 5 months until the wedding so I’m not in that “panic rush, super stress” mode yet (and hopefully not ever).
My F-SIL said I need vitamins – but what kind of vitamins?? Anyone else have this issue and if so, are you taking anything for it?

I think it’s normal to go through a shedding process of hair. Have you switched birth control or anything like that?
I would give it another week and see if it’s getting better, if not I would maybe make an appointment with your doctor and have your bloodwork done to check your levels, like your thyroid.

I lose hair like crazy but I also have a ton of it so it doesn’t seem to be anything major. Probably not helpful

I’ve had this happen to me before so I feel your pain. It was so upsetting! I went to a dermatologist and she told me that it was the result of stress but not current stress…stress from 6+ months ago. (I was very stressed about 4-6 months before this started to happen).
She said it takes a long time for hair folecule’s to die and fall out. Usually if you are very stressed about something it won’t impact your hair until months later. I had asked her if there was anything I could do about it now but unfortunately it just had to run its course. For me it lasted about 1-2 months and it cause my hair to get fairly thin at the time. This was 4 years ago and I’ve never had it happen again.

I heard somewhere, don’t quote me though, that we lose 100 strands per day. My shower drain gets clogged after one shower lol. If it starts coming out in clumps or you notice it thinning, then I might worry. Otherwise, you should be fine!

Prenatal pills are good for that. I use to take them all the time but they made me nauseous so I stopped. But it does wonders for you hair and skin. My hair falls out way more than it should as well but I know it is because of my BC.

My hair stylist says it’s normal to lose about 100 hairs a day and more if you have long hair. If you feel like you are losing more than that, take a multi vitamin and a biotin supplement every day.

Take prenatal vitamins or any vitamins that have a healthy amount of folic acid in them.

@mmcd1523: After it ran it’s course, as you said, did your hair grow back in as thick as it was before? Or did it stay thinner?
Every so often, maybe every other year, may hair seems like it thins out for awhile. Then, it seems to go back to normal after a couple of months. It’s hard for me to tell, though, because my hair changes so much with humidity levels. When it’s dryer out (like during winter) it feels thinner. I think everyone goes through ups and downs with hair fall (the strands you lose daily) normally. I’ve read that folic acid and biotin are particularly good for hair strength and growth, so I’m with everyone else on here who suggested going with a prenatal vitamin. It’s probably cheaper to buy just a prenatal instead of a multivitamin AND extra folic acid AND extra biotin.

I’m pretty darn sure this is normal. My hair falls out all the time and I still have a full head of hair. I have really thick, really curly hair though, so there’s a lot there to spare…it’s not getting any thinner.

Same problem here too. You can take Biotin, that’s actually vitamins for your hair, skin and nails. I live around (and am) a hairdresser and that’s good stuff. It’s reasonable and you can buy it from a drugstore or even Target might sell them. It’s cheap too : )
