What about finding a straoless dress that has a line that you like, and then putting a lace bolero/jacket over it.

That way you can get the same feel in a different way, so people wont think you’ve gone out of your way to wear a Kate Middleton Dress

I would find a dress you like, and have lace sleeves added. For that, you’d probably want to choose a dress that already has lace on it (like a full lace dress, or in Kate’s case, a dress where at least the top is lace) so when lace sleeves are added it looks normal.

I felt that Kate’s dress looked like Grace Kelly’s, so if anyone is a copy cat it’s Kate. 🙂

I agree with the other bees. Find a dress you like and have the lace added.

That style was around way before Kate Middleton and will be around way after.  Kim Kardashian wore a strapless dress–is nearly every other woman who is getting married any time soon also a copycat?  Choose what you like and wear what you like and screw what anyone else has to say about it.

Why can’t you just wear your mothers dress then? And make minor alterations where needed/wanted. ANd you can always just buy a custom gown.

Maybe you’d like a Legends by Romona Keveza dress?  The collection she debuted just BEFORE the royal wedding had a dress that was a dead ringer for Kate’s.  She has some adapted versions.

Her gowns are designer gowns, but you can probably get a great deal on the pre-owned or sample sale websites.

The dead ringer dress:

Some other options…

You could also add a lace bolero to a dress to get a more updated look…

I tried this dress on myself and it was amazing…

@mink:  I loved this collection. You could also buy a normal strapless and get a bolero like this one:

A Bee on here named Yolanda had a bolero commissioned like the second one from alibaba.com and it was beauitfullllll.

Also check out Pronovias and La Sposa! They do a lot of lace and sleeves on their collections as well.
