I’m finding that most of our stress is related to Little Girl’s dad. He seems to have a hard time accepting that we have this new man in our life and that yes, he is going to act as yet another parental unit. To be honest it makes me kind of mad. I accepted his lifestyle change AND his partner (they’ve been together 4 years and counting). They’re good together and his partner is a wonderful father to Little Girl. She’s a lucky kid to have two dads that love and support her like they do. So why can’t Dad 1 accept that FI loves her and supports her too? Dad 1 has even gone so far as to say "your FI has no place in discussions about Little Girl. He’s not her parent". To which I replied "FI is as much a parent as Dad 2." I hope he chews on that for awhile.

I guess what really bothers me is that Dad 1 & 2 and normally have a really great relationship. Truth be told, I usually feel pretty lucky in the ex department. When he finally came out and we split it was really a huge relief and our friendship remained pretty much intact. So now with this whole thing I’m thinking "what the flip?" Where is this coming from? EVERYBODY loves my FI, my family, friends… even Dad 1’s family. Of course that might be part of the problem. Maybe Dad 1 is worried everybody (including Little Girl) likes FI better than him.

Yikes. I hope you can corner him and get a date out of him. I’m a little stress out for you.

I love, love, love small weddings. Some of the best weddings I’ve been to have been 50 or less guests. They’re always so personal, so relaxed.

I actually think most of the planning this time around has been FUN! Yeah, I said fun!!! There is no committee decision and since we are paying for this ourselves, it’s up to us. We have considered what others would like, but the decision has been ours. Completely! ie: a full sheet cake stacked with vanilla bean pound cake and raspberry filling with our intials on top (not a wedding tiered cake in sight!), brunch reception, no guest book, and so on…I’ve actaully enjoyed it, I think mostly bc I know now what is really important and I’m not caught up in the have to. Flowers? I’m having them, I don’t really care what they are, as long as they’re pretty-enter carnations and astrolomeria!
