Hello! I love reading weddingbee and finally decided to write on here! I just want to share my proposal story. My sweet fiance and I started looking at rings months and months ago, he asked my parents for their blessing to marry me over two months ago, and we already had a wedding date and venue. For all intents and purposes, we were engaged, but I was still looking forward to a formal proposal and an engagement ring. I admit I started to get a little antsy and "subtly suggest" he save money for the ring rather than take me out for lunch. The man had a plan and, once I got over being antsy and just trusted everything would play out in its own time, I felt good and did not have to wait long. Two nights ago was the 2-year anniversary of our first date. I did not think he was going to propose that night because he'd just been talking about how he was still saving for the ring. For our anniversary, we went back to the restaurant we went to on our first date. After sitting there for a moment, one of the employees brought over a few framed photos of my fiance and me. I was puzzled and was asking how they had those pictures and why. Then they placed a couple of candles next to the photos and lit them. In my head I was thinking "No...this can't be it can it? Maybe it's just for our anniversary. And how did they get those pictures?" A second later, my fiance was down on one knee asking me to make him the happiest man alive and marry him. He put the ring we had both fallen in love with months earlier on my finger. I was in such a state of shock that I asked him if I was in a dream and, he teases me, because one of the first things I said was "I didn't get a manicure!" It was so surreal. Normally I cry over everything and I was sure I'd cry when my proposal came, but I was shocked and didn't shed a tear. I was beyond happy, however, and told him I'd love to be his wife.
Later he told me that he'd gone up to the restaurant to give them the photos and asked them to have it all set up at 6:00 for us. I called after work to say that traffic was awful and I wouldn't make it in time to go at 6:00. So he drove back to the restaurant and asked if they could set it up for 8:15 instead. Traffic improved so I called him a little while later and said I'd be there soon and said I was starving and still wanted to go at 6. So he called the restaurant and had them switch it back to 6. Poor guy! I felt bad for messing up his plan a little, but I didn't know. It makes the story more interesting at least!
It was such a special and memorable evening and I'm so excited to share with everyone!
