SO and I just had a timeline talk, and the outcome is better than expected – proposal coming before the end of our Christmas with his family! We decided it would be hilarious if we turn it into a contest, with both of us proposing, and seeing who can beat the other to it! The race starts when we arrive at his family’s farm on Dec 22nd…I figured out how I’m going to do it!
SO knows I am a huuuge Austen fan and teases me about it, so he will recognize this quote and find it hilarious when I hand him his coffee one morning! We are also pretty non-traditional, and he’ll definitely be amused and appreciative of the role-reversal of using the Mr. Darcy quote. Squeee, I’m so excited!!!

That’s beautiful and very creative! Another bee just proposed to her SO recently, and things seem to have turned out well very well for her. It’s fun that you and your SO have turned the proposal into a contest. I’m very traditional, so I would be more inclined to wait for his proposal and THEN counter with yours, sort of an “I’ll give you my hand (for the ring) after you open THIS,” and then give him your gift. However, since you really want to beat him to the punch, your idea seems very sweet!

I proposed to my partner/boyfriend of 5 year last August with a spoon, simular to yours but it was a desert spoon and I dished it up with cherry pie and a ring. The chance to think up cool ways to pop the question is fun and awhy should the boys have all the fun. Yay you go girl beat him to it. Good luck

rainbowbee Awww so cute!
I have a ring and I considered doing something like that… but I’m undecided, I think I might have more fun just staring at him until he notices, which he might not right away, knowing him! haha

wrkbrk Oh I saw that! Congratulations! I had forgotton, but maybe it’s where I subconsciously got the idea to look for the spoon, lol.
MrsWBS Yes, it is. I didn’t ever go back to update that thread because I felt a bit ridiculous… it was a pretty melodramatic thread when I look back at it… I should probably delete it but I’m not sure how. It was a complex situation that I didn’t feel like delving back into and/or justifying, after the fact. There were some misunderstandings between my SO and I about the situation that have been cleared up now. But we have since been to counselling together and apart, and I’m really happy to say that things are better than ever 🙂
